the back seat of what.......if your talking about a car shotgun is WAy better

* Always stay in control.

* People ahead of you have the right of way.

* Stop in a safe place for you and others.

* Whenever starting downhill or merging, look uphill and yield.

* Use devices to help prevent runaway equipment.

* Observe signs and warnings, and keep off closed trails.

* Know how to use the lifts safely.

KNOW THE CODE. IT'S YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.

This is a partial list. Be safety conscious.

yes, your quads will probably get tired quicker, and you are not as balanced as if you are centered, so you can fall easier

it depends. kreitler skis in the back seat, although i have no idea how he stays in control. its also entirely necessary sometimes depending on what your jumping off of.

kreitler does not ski in the backseat. shut up alpinecowboy84, you don't know anything, and yet you have an opinion on EVERYTHING.

Attitudes are contagious, mine might kill you.

Did someone call my name? I love to call my hammerhead babies by name's 'Cachooga! Cachooga! And you too Örssi, dinner's ready!' Ahh I loves me babies, jamaican style mon.

good ski form is to have forward pressure on your boots, your carving will be better and more consistant...backseat leads to shin splints and weak turns.

to carve a really hard turn, or ski very agressivly you have to stay out of the backseat.

better to burn out...

...then fade away

My style is the opposite. I throw myself down the fall line and have almost all my weight on the front of my skis. My friend however rides back seat all the time. It looks funny, but it doesn't seem to affect his skiing.

I heard Tanner is riding in the back seat now and that it's the new steeze. I'm practicing right now.

When you assume, you make an ass out of u and me.(think about it)

'My knee hurts' (Jeff Merat after grinding a lunch table for an hour instead of sitting in the ski patrol shack for his torm mcl and acl which he got earlier that day.)

'I'm not asking for any help, just mabe for you to get off your ass.'(my dad)

Do whatever makes you ski best

Hippies - they want to save the world, but all they do is smoke pot and smell bad.

Pabst Blue Ribbon is the greatest beer ever.

Well I suggest to anyone hoping to tear their ACL to ski in the backseat...

thats funny ive never had shinbang. is it from the pressure coming from leaning back which puts more pressure on the shin? or is that the calf?

Riding in the backseat sets you up for lots of problems. Since your center of mass is now centered over your heel peices, tehre's not enough pressure on the ski in front of your toe peices. What happens then is that the ski can't bite properly into the snow .. .which means less control. When you make a turn, does your down hill ski tip start to track away downhill .. your skiis come apart? Keep your knees and shoulders over your toe peices. Be centered.

To living single, seeing double and drinking triple.

You can get more speed though, right?

im and anti-whore trend-whore pro-trend anti-prowhore

Jaykyu - thank you for spelling that out, I really didn't want to type it.

You actually go faster by not being in the backseat. By staying forward you can get your skis to ''run'' on the snow more effectively and you can (if you know how) accelerate through every turn.

Now I think there is a time and a place for everything though, I love cruising around on my tails (gets some great looks when you pass people with your tips 6+ inches in the air), but it is very easy to lose control of the skis.

Technically, there is absolutely no advantage to being on the tails of your skis (I'm not trying to start an arguement here either, so please don't think I am). And for those of you that think that you need to be back a little in powder, you are just hurting yourself, it is muscularly more strenuous, you have less control, and basically leaning back in pow is the beginers philosophy. Your best bet is to remain centered (balance) and keep your feet more under your body, using more turning of your feet to turn, and less angulation.

Basically, BACKSEAT=BAD!!!!!

i pretty much have to lean back in powder.... east coast pow plus the fact that my boards aren't floaty at all makes for hell if you're forward of centered. i took a big fall when i aired from a groomer to a powder side trail. landed centered, and was immideately screwed.

but, if you have the right skis for the conditions, you should always be forward.
