Ride Tribe site

Just checked out the site - and props to te creators of it, it looks good...

But who is this site aimed at?

People who are new to skiing/snowboarding (a guide of what to wear)

If it is aimed at the local park user groups, is there an actual 'rider' involved to make sure that it doesn't get too gay? So far it looks very 'Intrawest Sanctioned' and tightly controlled.

Also, why is Mike Douglas the only jibber on the team? The other skiers are purely big mountain or racers - and they are all quite old. That isn't a very good representaion of the local talent pool. There is insane young skiing talent. I totally understand the Turpin situation (!) but why no park skier as a replacement.

The site looks geared toward a park user, and MD is the only athlete they can really relate to. And he isn't even in there all that much.

Again - it just looks very much controlled by Intrawest.

It is an awesome concept and could be sick. But if it stays as souless and generic as it is now, I don't feel that it will reach its full potential.

Just my 2 cents.

2 weeks ago I went to Outdoor school Camp with my grade. My teacher was in a Field talking to his Girlfriend at 11:30 pm, my friend and I were suspicious so we flashed a flaslight in the eyes of my teacher and they were closed. We Burst out laughing I said 'His having phone sex'. So the Next Day I went around and told EVERYONE in my grade what happened last night. I said to them 'on the count of 3 we'll say MR. GIBSON were you MASTERBATING last night. My teacher we so red, it was fucking Hilarious

My Teacher: Yeah I Whack The Dog

^^ In terms of jibbers and park riders and who is on the team, thats pretty much a seperate thing from the web site - its there to talk about stuff like that, but not determine who is on the team.

At this point, the site is still very new and under development. The web designers will be adding content as we go.

So what would you like to see though? The guy named James that wrote a chunk of what you see there - that's me.

There are a couple of folks that can speak to this better than I can - feel free to post here if you have any thoughts.

I'm glad you like the idea behind it though - I hope we can make it a sick spot as well.

Thanks for the props on the site! We are still working hard on it and still have a TON in development but wanted to get it launched so that everybody could get a taste of what is to come. Trust me there is WAY more to come. Games, media, product reviews, what's goin on in the scene, more on the pro team - you get the idea...

For the record: The site is aimed at all skiers and snowboarders who are interested in an alternative source of information from WhistlerBlackcomb.com. So it's mostly a younger crowd. We are trying to provide information to all levels of skiing/snowboarding... Some of whom can already rip it up and some who are just beginning. (Yeah! - more people in the sport)

As for being aimed at the local park user groups>

We aren't solely aiming ourselves at park users we are aiming ourselves at the whole 'next generation' of rippers no matter where on the mountain you like to ride. But if anyone has any ideas of what specifically they would like to see please send me a message or an email to ridetribe@intrawest.com (Attn Katie)

As for having riders involved. I've got that covered and will continue to pass ideas by some of the local riders.

Right now I have some local rippers that are going to write some product reviews etc... so you know they aren't going to be biased. No ski racers writing reviews on park skis...

I'm also in the process of getting bios put together for all of the peeps that are writing for the site so after you read an article you can see who wrote it and find out a bit about them.

As for who is on out team> I'd like to clear one thing up right away. Chris Turpin is in good standing with Whistler Blackcomb and according to the Athlete Program Coordinator he was actually invited to be on the team for this season. He decline because he is moving to Park City. We love Turp. and there have been so many rumours flying around as to why he isn't on the Pro Team and I wanted to clarify that for everyone.

I will pass your other feedback regarding the team on the coordinator for the athlete program.

Seriously people. This site is for you so if you have an ideas I'm open to them. Please send me an email ridetribe@intrawest.com (they all go straight to me) or send me a private message or post them here. If you have a sick idea for an article or whatever...let's discuss.

So now I'm sure you'd like to know - who am I? I'm the Online Marketing Coordinator and my name

is Katie so direct all feedback my way please!

Thanx!

Check out WhistlerBlackcomb.com... and launching in October RideTribe.com a new Whistler Blackcomb website with people like you in mind!

Questions about Whistler Blackomb??? send me a message...

Cool, thanks Katie.

It is a sick concept, for sure.

I like the idea of it being a broadly aimed forum for all levels - it may raise awareness of what actually goes down on the mountains to those who otherwise would not have such insight.

One thing I would really like to see is a daily Park Conditions section. With live webcams of the main park, whistler rail park, and superpipe (big ask !!). Also a groomers report from the actual grooming team, not some autogenerated response, and any updates on new/altered features from the park crew. Also a pipe grooming report.

It would be sick to log on to rideTribe in the morning and get a complete realtime rundown on what condition the park is in. WB is such a huge place that info like this becomes pretty important in deciding where to ride! It can take a while to go somewhere different if conditions weren't what you expected !!

Also, it would also be cool to have someone roaming around with a camera a couple of days a week getting shots and quick interviews with some park users - that would create a really cool sense of community.

So anyways keep up the good work, and it would seem that you scored one of the sickest jobs in town! :D

Thanks again for the feedback. For me it's really important to get feedback from the local riding community.

I'm happy to say that some of the suggestions that you have mention are ideas that we have been throwing around internally and we're workin on em!

Did you see the Terrain Park trading cards that were on WhistlerBlackcomb.com last year? I'm hoping to get something similar to that up and running on the site a bit after the start of the ski season.

Keep those ideas flowin'!

And yeah my job is pretty dope. :)

Yeah those trading cards were cool. Good to see little Sean Pettit! More of the behind the scenes guys would be good too. The shapers, groomers, welders, park hosts ...
