Ride away-able airbag landing...

wow that would be so much fun.i mean you can always still go to a powdery area and build a kicker but that is definitly sick and probably safer than powder, but we cant all use things like that so ill settle for trying tricks into powder
 
damn, if I didn't have to go to work on the 3rd I'd be very tempted on going to the Lake to test thing thing out. But alas - I have to be in Naksup on the 3rd and don't feel like going out to Alberta for a day. Got some buddies out there right now though, they're boarders, but I'll make sure they hit that shit and tell me what they think.

Looks like it could be really good though, I'm stoked.
 
I've dreamed about something like that in the ice covered midwest! Are they producing these or just keeping them in their fleet for demo use? I need one... my threads
 
I don't like this idea i mean yes it's good it will save injury but it takes something out of the sport. I love how I see some do a trick and I say wow I'm going to ball up and do it. now people will learn everything on an air bag, I think it a pussy way to learn the tricks. but props to the guy who made that good for him.

 
probally already been said. But there's a demo for this thing at Lake Louise on Wednesday. and I was also told that the park there will have one next year
 
well that jump / airbag was set up for pros and amatures, usually it is on a smaller jump with a smaller landing so the part of the bag covers the whole landing and the remaining part of the bag cover the flat part after the landing so once you land you go all the way to the flat part instead of faceplanting on snow you basically stop cause you have less speed

These airbags are awesome. We have been testing out different setups all winter long and have finally dialed it in.

This summer, in addition to our on-snow terrain park and indoor barn facility, we will have an airbag jump in the park. It's the perfect progression after hitting the jump inside into foam and before taking it right to snow.

Also, we will hopefully have a good sized step up in our park this summer. I personally think step ups are the best and safest way to learn a new trick on snow with minimal impact.

the problem i see with the airbag, from watching the vids is that if you landed your but then slid out you'd be carrying tons of speed into the actual snow landing. either you'd be sliding out or cartwheeling. I get the the air release business is built in to stop that but from what I could tell, there would be situations where it wouldn't help.
 
I like the airbag for training but I don't feel like it is real skiing for a comp. A good rider should be confident in a comp to be able to find his feet because of the consequences, with an air bag, you can huck and get too lucky to win without facing the consequences.
 
I don't think anyone said anything about using it for competition. it's purpose is for learning new tricks while minimizing the death factor.
