Rickie Fowler= Newschool golfing (kinda)

This is about as epic as a playoff can be for this event. Fowler, the Rookie of the Year for the PGA 2 years ago (beating Rory), and of course, Rory the #1. Wow, fucking stoked.

I hope they do it soon. A bunch of the games greats, including Woods and Nicklaus, are for banning the long putter. I think it should be banned because it doesn't fully mimic the flow of the golf swing. Instead, its propped up against one's stomach/chest, giving them a pivot that does not exist in a normal golf swing.

Plus it looks dumb as hell, but that's purely opinion.
 
i personally dont care if an opponent uses one, i think theyre harder to use, but when used right they can be incredibly effective, my boss cant putt for shit when he uses a reg putter but when he uses hisbelly putter he can dip into the 60s easy, hes a head pro btw not just a rando haha.

but i see the usga/r&a bannning em within 5-10 years to try to even out the playing field as courses cant get much longer, and to restore some classicness to the game if that word makes sense haha
 
^I think they need to stop lengthening courses. Who cares if the pros can shoot in the mid 60's consistently on a short track?

Instead of making it longer add more trouble to make shot selection more interesting. Nobody wants to watch or play a 500 yard par 4.

It is stupid.

Also i dont care for long putters but i dont care if someone uses one either.
 
Yeah I don't see them as being completely bad. They can be a real help to some people who have trouble bending over to putt, but a pro obviously won't have that problem.
 
This win was huge, glad to see Fowler getting in there. However, I agree that Tiger is going to be back eventually. When he is, these young guns wont know what hit them. Also Fowler needs to shave the stache. Badly.

belly putters are for pussies, its an advantage having the shaft rest against your arm or up into your belly, it creates a much more stable swing and takes a challenge away from putting.......

seriously go to a putting green, take a putt with a regular putter, then grab a belly putter and tell me your swing isn't more smooth with the belly putter..it's dumb.
 
The real focus should be on Mcilroy and his 340 yard three woods.

He flew both Rickie fowlers and DA points' drivers, with a fucking three wood.

Watching him stripe the ball like that makes me want to quite golf, its just not human.
 
they were saying an avg pro goes back 40degrees and follows through to 45degress or something like that...

then they said mcilroy goes back almost 70degrees and follows through to 70, so nuts

my numbers may be off a bit but it was like 30%+ more turn in his back swing and follow through

It was something like 30* more turn then avg. Which is insane.

I have studied his swing and it is freaking amazing compared to many swings on tour.

Everything is just so spot on and how the golf swing should be. Lots of pros get away with stuff that isnt correct but make it work for them.

Mcilroy is just flawless i dont understand how he isnt running away with more wins right now.
 
because if you make one bad shot and someone capitalizes its basically game over in golf....it can come down to that putt that missed an inch left, or that 185 yard shot to the green that landed just off the fringe and not the green....he gets flustered.

but about his swing, it is insane, they did a sports science on him I believe and his hips turn so much more than anyone else in the history of golf. its pretty amazing to get that kind of rotation, I wonder if he will be able to keep that up later in his career or if it will cause physical problems.

and to the guy who said Tiger will be back...we can't deny it he is one of the best golfers of all time, but he is passed his prime, sure he might win another major maybe two....but he'll never be "back"
 
He seems like a chill guy, but I'm not a huge fan of his swing. Its so damn wristy that in any high pressure situation he chould choke easily because he's using small muscles in his wrists to control the club. Way better than me though so I shouln't be critisizing...
 
lol Kevin Na's preshot routine of bailing like 3-4 times with like 30 waggles in between has to be trolling the fuck out of his playing partner
 
the players isnt a major but its sometime called the fifth major, so it would definitely be an accomplishment, especially since he won last week
 
Haha. You know nothing. I'm so glad it's not a major, TPC Sawgrass is stupid, just a good watch on TV.
 
Agreed. He's toned down his outfits as of lately but still dresses pretty classy. I'm a fan of how he plays the game too.
 
Also, take that back. Tom actually progresses the sport of skiing- can't say the same for John. He hits the ball a long ways and dresses like a clown. I'd relate Tom more to Freddy Couples or Phil, both of give the PGA an image of class.
