Rick Santorum

if they earned that million they deserve to keep that same percent as the person who made 30k. Just because a person makes more I don't believe its okay to take a larger chunk of it.

I'm for less taxes across the board and less government.

I still haven't made up my mind on the pro choice or pro life thing.

Used to be totally pro choice but now I can't say I'm either for that particular issue.

Regarding gay and lesbians, ug. Marriage was first a religious thing with man and wife but now our government treats married people different than unmarried people. I'm all for all rights to everyone. But marriage is ..er was a religious thing but now its not really. So they should be allowed to just like everyone else.

I don't like what America has come to and I hate fear has let the government get to where it is regarding tsa , patriot act, ndaa and others I'm sure.

^obviously does not understand the subtleties of implicit value. Did you read what I wrote? It's NOT punishing rich people by taxing slightly more than a poor person. The severity of need needs to taken into account when it comes to flat tax taxation schemes that simply -ISN'T-. Can you imagine living on 30k a year for a family of 4? Cuz that's the median. It is more costly and dire to lose $3000 than it is for someone making $300000 losing $30,000. The severity of living conditions increases exponentially inversely proportional to one's monetary worth.

fuck polotics.

People who make more money now get pnwed in taxes and lose a lot of money. TRUTH

but they don't need it: is what your saying

and people who don't make as much money don't lose as much

but they need it more: is what your saying

this may be true but i still don't think it gives government the right to take a boat load of rich peoples money. it's still THEIR money. that they earned.

The government shouldn't have much right to do shit if a person isn't harming another person or their property.

Let people help people.

Not government, take and give.

correct me if Im wrong, but many wealthy people make money from capital gains. Are capital gains not taxed less than regular income?

Taxed more I believe. But here is something that really grinds my gears about taxes. I filed a loss for the year. I lost about 200 hundred dollars which isn't much at all in the grand scheme of things but still. The government taxed a loss. I find that crazy.

gingrich is the best candidate besides paul. he shut down gov twice and balanced the budget, and clinton got all the credit gingrich or paul. otherwise obama. i dont need dr drew telling me i have a fucking disease

I didn't reply because you spelled "politics" incorrectly. But seriously how do you function? I hope to God you're not of voting age because you seriously need to learn a thing or two about not only money, but about math and your government. I wasn't even arguing for or against the government, just the guy to whom I was replying's idea of flat taxation.

Romney is John Kerry with an (R) next to his name, a mormon upbringing, and with Montgomery Burns kinda money in the bank...

Ultimately, he wouldn't be as bad as your "lets revert back to 1952" tea-party candidate like Palin or Santorum or any of those other whackos, and as far as republicans go, he's easily the best they have and the most moderate - least in some respects.

...but god damn I hope he gets pummeled. I'm no Obama fanboy - I think there's a lot more that needed to be done the last 4 years (for what it's worth, Obama absolutely agrees with me on that statement) But I don't see how switching over to a guy who's going to change the focus of the country right when it's just starting to improve is a good thing. (and yes, outside of gas prices, things are improving in the important areas)

I doubt America will see it thy way though. Let's be honest the average voter doesn't know much about their candidate. If gas prices are high come november Obama will loose. Obama is THAT bad as a president. I really don't like his issues on a lot of cultural issues but economically he is trying. He could have done better considering he had a democratic congress for 2 years.

do you fucking follow my posts? you are like the herpes of newschoolers, just when everyone thinks your gone you show up again!

are you butt hurt because your "oh im a badass i pulled a knife on some guy and the crossed the state boarder because he called the cops" thread backfired on you?

why are all of your posts so useless? do you have nothing better to do with your time?

That's the most popular and most ridiculous excuse I see all over... how does sending a message from your phone somehow inhibit proper grammar or punctuation?

big thumbs plus a little keyboard make mistakes more likely.

not being able to proofread makes mistakes go unnoticed.

It's funny how much Europeans/Canadians know and care about American culture (especially politics). It just goes to show how American culture influences the globe.

You could say that the knowledge and caring about your matters is just because those matters have such a large cultural and universal impact on the affairs around the globe, for better or worse.

the box for ins does not let your proofread. Now i can tell you have never used it, the box is tiny so your text just goes out of view.

Well, my advice to you, Stefanowich, is to write your words correctly the first time, before it goes out of view.

Maybe it doesn't really matter, but using a mobile is not valid excuse.

Isn't a "Santorum Sucks" type of thing about Santorum?

...This thread has always been about how nutso that guy is.

I don't know about you, but I don't care how special Santorum wants my sex life to me - i want some motherfucking birth control and some condoms because A: I don't want to get anyone pregnant and B: I don't want to get teh aidz.

odds that you are religious and watch fox/cnn/other american news: very good-pro life: doesnt understand biology

-prowar: doesn't understand the middle east

and flat tax rate? how the fuck is that fair. get educated before you open your mouth

nooo!you shouldn't take it personally, you know how everyone hates americans. you are a product of your culture and it's not really your fault, we just wish you could see the light

odds are you are an asshole: very good.

never said i was pro war.

i am pro life because if you are going to have sex then you need to man up to the consequences, if you have read past this post you would have seen where i said that in situations of rape then an abortion is justifiable.

flat tax rate is the fairest way to tax people, 5% across the board for everyone, why should i be taxed more because i made more on dividends?(see the dividend tax clause, dividends are taxed higher then any other form of income) should we punish people for being successful? or give breaks to people who werent?

give people breaks who weren't. Here's a little newsflash most people can get extremely lucky and then become successful, I agree obviously they had to work hard to, but what about all those people who work hard but were not as lucky. Yea flat tax is possibly one of the dumbest things ever.

hahaha, yes! you are religious. don't get me wrong religion can beneficial, but it breeds ignorance at a faster rate than the education system. seriously quoting a book made 2000 years ago? lol

while I'm a self proclaimed asshole (i don't really care about people), I'm also nice (i actually do care about individuals). We are all born ignorant and our opinions are formed from what knowledge we have been exposed to, obviously there is some discrepancy between what i know and what you know, which makes any argument between us invalid, but I can't resist a good debate.

i didn't know that about dividends, but to be able to make actual income off them you need to be rich so it makes sense that they are heavily taxed. Also dividends are fucking awesome. When i get paid my dividend I always feel like I'm cheating or something, which makes me skeptical of their use and the whole system...

holy shiet i have to say you are dead wrong about homeless people. please do your research on that (read ch8 of this book, it's only like 20 pages and if that isnt enough to convince you then you might have to read the whole thing and do additional research, trust me though, you are wrong.)
http://books.google.ca/books?id=sia6HS_UM6AC&printsec=frontcover#v=onepage&q&f=false

also, may i suggest trying anthropology as an elective in uni (avoid 1st year courses if possible)? it's very interesting and factual.

I still can't believe that someone so young has all these crazy ideas and opinions so strongly embedded in his cranium.

I've never understood this argument. I'm not arguing in favor on

reciting bible verses but you must realize that all democratic

governments are based off of ideas from books written over 2,000 years

ago, not to mention the fact that they form the basis for all math, science, and philosophy. Would someone be an idiot for citing Aristotle, Plato, Herodotus,

Pliny, Cicero, etc? Their writings fueled the renaissance and the

enlightenment. Fuck it, who the fuck cares about a book written two

thousand years ago, right? Lol!

Again, not trying to defend the bible here, only that your argument is complete shit and makes you look like an idiot.

And your argument about dividends is more bullshit. Do you realize how many pension plans and retirement accounts depend upon dividend driven investments? Your tax on rich evil dividend earning capitalists also kills someone's retirement. Those dividends provide a modest return in a retirement account managed by a mutual fund company. Additionally, those evil rich capitalists who invest large sums of money in order to receive dividends are also propping up the U.S. economy, their invested capital creates jobs. You kill those earnings and you kill the investment. Crazy idea, right? I may have oversimplified a bit, but it's only because you seem like a simple-minded person.

If you feel so bad about your dividend donate it to charity. Also, if you actually want to debate, don't use stupid internet lingo like "lol" it makes you look like a middle school student on facebook.

Your argument is simplistic at best, and facetious, intellectually dishonest, and disingenuous at worst. Anyone introducing a philosophical, mathematical, or scientific proposal strictly based on the writings of 2000 old philosophers and scientists would be out of their mind and laughed off the killing floor. Apart from basal theories, the sum of philosophical, mathematical and scientific knowledge is the result of centuries upon centuries' worth of cumulative work.

This is in contrast to those that derive their morals strictly from the Bible, disowning or disavowing the leaps and bounds in moral and philosophical thought over the centuries to get us to where we are now. In fact, if one reads the Bible, you'll find we, as a society, have disallowed most of the so-called "morals" the Bible espouses in favor of a more fair, democratically decided and logically thought out philosophically competent moral system, complete with (in contrast to the bible) racial rights, anti-slavery amendments, women's rights, religious rights, LGBT rights, and sectarian/secular rights.

The rest of your argument is so incredibly simple and mathematically naive it wouldn't be worth getting into, but, in a perfect world, I'd have to agree with your idea that rich people should pay flat tax and wallow in their dividends. We do not, however, and our economy is volatile, our people greedy, and our capitalists miserly, so let's not indict our fellow NS members for simplicity just yet when the majority of NS can barely form an argument, let alone a coherent and mathematically competent thought.
