If you read the other texts, you realize how overblown this whole "scandal" was and how much of an asshole Martin is. Scroll through the rest of these texts and 90% of them are just friendly shit while 10% is just normal ball busting. Fucking media got a hold of this whole issue and the PC pussies put incognito on blast for "bullying" even though that obviously wasn't the issue. Martin pussed out blindsided incognito and pretty much stabbed him in the back

The way that I understood this whole situation is that Martin just fucking hates all the typical testosterone mumbo jumbo that dudes spew in a lockerroom for whatever reason, Incognito just happened to have shown that through his text messages. He was the easiest one to give individual blame to instead of blaming the dolphins organization or the general idiotic sports culture that half of American men seem to live and die for.

I'd assume Martin is actually a pretty smart dude, both parents are Harvard grads and he went to Stanford I believe. I read almost all of the messages and the vibe I get is that Martin tried to play along with what he thought was the proper NFL lifestyle. After a while it got to him and fucked him up pretty bad and Incognito caught the flack for it because they were tight and he has a rep for being a bad guy. There's a lot to this story that we'll never know and it's tough to make a solid conclusion without being one of the two guys in question and really knowing what went down.
