go 1 and 2 on the podium at the beaver creek downhill. miller on top. first time in US history americans have the top 2 in one event in downhill. i know its ski racing but you still have to appreciate what these guys are doin for the US.

hmmmmmmm. downhill is a crazy sport, but it would be crazyier if they straped goldfish bowls to thier helments than could only qualify if they stilll had the fish in the bowl at the bottem, which would make them smoother

dude i raced for like 5 years and was pretty fuckin good to but its just the same old shit i have a friend who is gettin lik 15th at world juniors in racing but he always tries to come out jibbin with us as much as possible i think its good to race or at least learn to ski before you freeride

Seriously. Just because you are a freeskier doesnt automatically mean that you cant respect a racers skill. I missed the part where the two disciplines couldnt coexist happily. No need for domination guys. This is just me but I think that tearing down an ice rink at 75 MPH is pretty sick.

I know that people are always going to talk shit about different disciplines but I want to know why they hate so bad. Especially you Bristolrider. If you really were involved with racing you know how much it takes to really succeed (something that you obviously never got completely), let alone win world cups. Explain yourself.

yeah i raced for a long time, i get irritated when people hate on it so bad. really its fun to blast down a course, and thats why i can actually ski outside the park, unlike some other jibbers that can barely make it to the jump. cut racers a break until you try to go down an icy course at 70mph, unless theyre dissin the jibbers, then get on em.

I love to ski so much.

i dont like racing because you are competing solely within a fence. So basic and boring. You whole life is contricted to gates to follow. Are you gonna live your life fenced in the whole time? Freeskiing there is no boundaries. Just the way life should be -free.

I don't think a lot of you appreciate the training and technical expertise needed to compete in ski racing.

While it may be a set course, it's different every time, just setting a gate off a few feet can change everything!

The majority of the time I prefer riding the park, but I still race once a week -nothing like the adrenaline rush from speed!

Stop hating and learn to respect!

And for those who can barely make it to the jump, learn to ski!

 
The next time you kids want to rip racer guys for being fags why don't you address your post to some pretty good ex-racers, who really changed the world of freesking for all of us. Morrison, Kreitler, McConkey, Olsen, Pollard... the list goes on.

Rhalves and Bode are doing awesome right now and everyone should give them some respect. If you used to race and hate it now it was becuase you sucked. I liked it cuz I was fucking awesome

I raced for about 8 years and just got into freeskin about a year and a half ago. As much as everyone hates racing it really teaches you how to ski, like really ski not gorilla steeze skiing. And if you know how to ski you will progres faster in whatever you do whether its skiin the park, skiin moguls, of skiin big mountain. But some racers also do act like theyre the best skiers on the hill.

 
In the last freeze it was wrote, 'Jon said once that no matter how good he gets, nothing would compair to winning a world cup race, because he knows how hard it is.' Jon Olson, on the the greats and inovaters of our sport give more props to racers winning than freeskiers at the top of the sport. If someone who makes a living on freesking can say something like this it is clear how much respect racers deserve, espically Bode who is on fire this year.

yeah good for yoon but i was watchin teh downhill yesterday(first downhill ive caught in a while) and too tell you the truth i really trully dont think that tanner could make it too the bottom like he stated in freeskier. birds of prey couse is one of the steepest in the world and i just dont see him maken it too the end.

Irotate I was thinking the exact same thing. I seriously believe that not a single top freeskier could make it down the 'Birds of Prey' in good form. Those downhillers spends YEARS giving everything they have just to be able to make it down alive. Tanner was WAY out of line in thinking he is anywhere near the same all-mtn level as Ralves or Miller.

YEa freeride is just taking over arent they with the 5% of skiing that we make up we should just stop the sale of anything but twiin tips we are so hot!

Pete is currently sulking around Mt. Hood, shooting with Poor Boyz Productions and hitting on Kristi Leskinen. She hates guys, Pete lamented, so it’s not going good. Apparently Canada isn’t the only thing that’s tough for Pete to get into.

They (racers and other skiers) also paved the way for freeskiing's existence.

This thread IS NOT about 'who is better.' Neither are better than the other. Tanner kicks ass. Rahlves and Miller kick ass. Comparing them is foolish.

All you people come in here talking about how you don't get respect as a freeskier and then you turn around and bash racing. You think you're gonna get respect if you don't give any?
