more like crappy artwork. I didn't see anything significant about his seg. That hair thing was soooooo stupid, gosh take that outta there. I think they just got bored with his segment, threw in a lot of random crap, and called it 'art'

Joel died, Steeles seg was the last he made, its pretty good. Not my style personaly but its a good segement.

my hand is raised, and the segement was really sick. skiing was amazing, all the rails were so smooth, and the editing was really innovative, i liked alot. one of my faviorate segements

hmmm, i dont think id say its the future of ski videos, but id say its definatley gonna try and be copied. but i dont think all segements are gonna be like taht

steele was trying to do it for his best friend that passed on durring the making of the movie he wanted his segment to be sick as like a tribute to that kid

actually ^ your wrong. Joel passed away the day after finishing the section, so no, Steele wasn't trying to make a sick section in his memories. It just turned out to be Joel's last editing job, and I would say that he picked an amazing one to end it on. RIP Joel, the skiing world as a whole is going to miss you.

im not going to raise my hand, i thought it completely ruined the segment, i have the same feeling that iw ouldn't call that art, i can't see any significane or deeper meaning, for example when he backflips off the concrete wall a nd flashes the the chinese symbols, or pretty much anything in th emovie, i hope it is the first and last segment to be done like that, the music was pretty good, except many tricks were ruined through the editing technique, a lot of tricks were missed like when steele was talking at the beginning
oh ya , about steel's commentary, it is so irrelevant to anything i think it is extremely annoying listening to it, he doesn't complete one sentence, and the stuff he says has no meaning, it is not deep, it is not philosophical, there is no lesson to be learned,
also, the clips where they show him walking across the parking garge, it looks like he forced himself to walk t hat way, it was set up,
i don't like it, but thats my opinion
and one last comment on the commentary, i think it is in modus operandi where mark johnson has a commentary at the beginning of his segment, if your goign to do something like that use mark johnsons as an example , his at least had a point and explained part of his life.

everyone is saying how focused has such a dull and solemn tone but i think that the end of steeles seg was pretty damn sad it brought down the feel of the movie still great tough.

flatspinner is entitled to his opinion. i have to ask though, have you ever tried editing a video? if you have, even if you dont like the style, the skiing, or the song used in steele's segment, you can certainly appreciate the fact that joel knew how to edit. i think he did an amazing job with the segment, the only thing i didnt like was steele's voice-overs, which, i agree, had little relevance to anything as far as i can tell. alright i'm done, some little 12 year old who's skiid twice in his life can try and rip me apart now

no offence to joel(RIP), but i didnt like the editing at all in steeles segment. like dfresh said, the commentary was meaningless. instead of incorparating his 'art'(i had no idea maps of cities was art) into the movie, why didnt they just give him a slideshow or something in the bonus section? all in all, good riding, but i didnt like the editing style

hmmm....well I dunno. Although I'm all about trying new things and stuff like that, Steele is such a good rider and I just think it could have showcased him more. Joel was a dang good editter and no, soxripper, I haven't tried editting a segment....I've done many clips...but never a seg. I'm sure it's really hard. but yes I am entitled to my own opinion and so is everyone else....if there were no critics...everything would be low grade crap....peace

I liekd it a lot. The art that got overlayed onto the skiing adn when he was on the billboard it tohught that it looked really dope. Teh commentary looked cool and had potential but it was kinda forced but other than that one of my favorite segments ever. It also shows how much steele has progressed over the last couple years. I mean looka this segment in propaganda. His air tricks all looked like shit and now his shit looks a lot better. I basically stated what everyone else has said but i agrred with it

i think his talking was basically two conversations but then cut up and mixed... you can tell one is about how he wants to show that he is more than just skiing, when he talks about that 'it is a big part of my life, and other peoples lives, and thats great, but theirs more to life than that' or something to that effect.
