Revival

So the new kids to NS are learning respect from the respect that we give them. They're using the search bar, and even when they're not they are given an answer and a friendly reminder about how the search bar is so useful. This is definatley a step in the right direction. The problem is when people find a thread from many moons ago and revive them with a post such as "sick." I'll scroll through the ski gabber and see threads that I've seen and commented on months ago. We should have a rule that threads older than two months old shouldn't be revived unless there is a new issue to discuss with it.

Who else agrees, who disagrees?

good thought, but it would happen anyway unless you had it so they go deleted after so many days off the front page, which defeats the purpose of the search bar

Yeah we don't want deleted threads, I guess this thread is semi-pointless. I just think somethimes many revivals of old threads are completely useless.

even if it gets revived, if we see that its a really old thread, and just let it die again, within the hour or a few hours, depending on site activity it will be off the front page again

I agree with Snow720, if threads are deleted then the searchbar becomes obselete. Consequentaly, there would be a huge increase in the number of threads on questions that have been beaten senseless already. I can live with the occasional revival of old threads, but I don't know what I'd do without my trusty searchbar.

I think that after a certain time period, threads should become locked or archived. They would still be able to be read and found through searching but no new posts could be added.
