Revision Skis

Met their designer Jeff out in Summit. Said they are just doing product development and prototyping right now. He was riding a pair of fatties that looked real nice.

pretty sure the guy who runs it used to be one of the owners or something of epic planks. but if you look at their instagram they post pics of their athletes pretty regularly

Old owner of Epic Planks. Hence the name "Revision". Looks like he's doing it right this time. Team looks pretty well stacked and the product is nice. On the up and up.

This.

" What we found is that we can source higher quality production skis from China than we can through outsourcing via factories in North America."

not to call bullshit, but bullshit.

unless they meant "For the price we want them build we can source higher quality production skis from China than we can through outsourcing via factories in North America."

Appreciate the interest guys, Just wanted to clarify that we are not part of Epic Planks and we don’t have the same construction, factory, etc. One of our owners is a former member of EP, but our company is not associated with EP.

While there are numerous companies building their own skis in the USA, there are very, very few that are building OEM for other small brands. It is absolutely slim pickings and the product you get is lower quality and higher price than what you can find overseas. This has been the reality that we found. Regardless, we are absolutely stoked to be a part of the community and looking forward to connecting.

Looks like theirs another up and coming brand of skis coming out next fall. Anyone know anything about them? team? company location? interesting to see another brand pop up, hoperfully they can make an impact on the industry. But from the looks of their website though..who knows.http://revisionskis.comhttp://vimeo.com/78066845

ps. yeah gear talk whatever

great to see the ski industry continue to evolve

copy/pasting my questions from other thread to up the chances of them being answered...that would be much appreciated

damn 200 for the park/all mtn ski is enticing

can anyone describe them to me? especially how they'd compare to the armada arvti?

i like the waist width and nose rocker. are they stiff enough to shred on? why are the nose and tail stiffness levels the same?

also what are the chances of actually getting them around nov 17? if i get them i'll have to wait around for them to ski park this year

oh yeah and how are the bases? i demand fast as fuck bases cause i ski like kenny powers pitches

As would I. Has anyone riden these yet? Obviously the general public hasnt but has anyone gotten a pair somehow and tried em?

Samesies, but that's just wishful thinking on our part. To my knowledge the only guys who have ridden them enough to comment are the team members.

Just because something is made in china doesn't mean it's trash and just because it's made in NA doesn't mean it's high quality.

No, but I find it difficult to believe one can't find somewhere in North America that can make a pair of skis of equal quality to what you can get from China.

Yeah, but at $199.

Lots of ski companies make a top notch ski here in the US, yes. And you can. But not for the same price, which in the end affects business. I just cant afford a 500 or 600 dollar ski. So I'll take the same quality of a ski at 200, with the only difference being it was made overseas.

Price was never mentioned. It was just said that they can't find someone who can make them at the same level of quality as from China. Also their normal price is about 500.

It might not have been said, but price was most likely part of it. It is with every business that has ever existed ever, so its probably a safe assumption it was a part of it here.

I guess i'm not really neutral... But I rode the Talisman at hood this summer. Really fun ski! It has a nice mix of a wider waist with nose rocker. A really smooth flex that worked well for buttering but was still very solid when taking deep landings. I'm really pumped on this skis versatility! I'm sure it would even be great for all-mountain riding.

I have ridden these sticks all summer and can tell you guys a little bit about them.

The Talisman is a little fatter underfoot which is the direction all park skis are going in my opinion, gives you some nice stability. The scoopy noses charge through the crud and are AWESOME for nose butters. The tails are stiff enough to withstand big jumps and they are pretty damn durable. I am going to ride them all over the mountain this winter, so stoked for that. Get em while they're this cheap. Only lasts til Sept. 1st!

the skis seem really great. But im concerned about the price point, usually when skis are priced this cheaply they are not very durable. I would love to know how they compare to like an icelantic, moment, on3p

They're selling them at the price it cost to make them... Thats why they are so cheap. I would say this price has nothing to do with durability

Stiffness is relative to the company. Begat does an 8 stiffness mean in the grand scheme of things. And without carbon stringers, how long till the stiffness turns into noodles. I want to buy, I'm just apprehensive.

The Subtraction & Talisman both have carbon stringers. Appreciate the interest.
