Hear me out on this. Maybe I'm dumb and wrong but whatever.

So in other sports, if an athlete fucks up publicly, they could potentially lose sponsors/endorsements and all that stuff. Makes sense because they represent the company, right?

I mean yeah, athletes represents a company, but doesn't a company also represent the athlete? I think it goes both ways here. At least in skiing. Sponsorship(especially when you have a pro model with said company) is a partnership. If your partner fucks up, you should have the means of explaining your side and clarifying the situation to save your ass, just like a company would try to save their ass if an athlete misrepresented them.

Not saying the bunch needs to take responsibility in this, obviously that's stupid, but at the same time I think coming out and explaining their side of the situation would save their ass so they aren't associated with such a disaster of a company/situation.

Then again, I could be totally off here but just a thought.

Does anyone know the employees of revision? Sounds like you can't really contact them through revision without some bullshit. Feel bad for anyone who missed days this year because of them, it's so fucked how this even happened.

If these assholes start a third company everyone boycott them please. No matter how core and cool they seem to be. For those that know anything about the snowboard world keep an eye out they dont switch over to those unsuspecting people.

That has to be just as frustrating, I imagine everyone's on the hunt for new sponsors at this point. It's gotta be tough, especially for a guy like you who left a pretty big name brand to work with this company. Hope it works out for you and the rest of the team one way or another.
 
I haven't really been keeping up with this thread too much, but does anyone know who's actually responsible for this? Like who are the guys who started Revision/fucked everyone over? I wonder how the company was set up as far as who is liable for what.

bill wanrooy is generally listed as founder/co-founder. A few pages back someone mentioned basically no one has seen/heard from him for months
 
I just hope everyone gets their money back, what a damn shame.

I hope any and all links to revision and/or promotional media/videos/pics are scrubbed from NS. This is the worst fuck up by a ski company I can recall (I'm not talking corporate mergers and buyouts, I'm talking on a smaller scale within our little niche of skiing).

I hope these guys never get another line of credit ever again. Just a fucking disaster all around.

not sure, sorry to say but i almost never pay much attention to ski startups. revision got me with their insane prices and as you can see in the first part of this thread, i was really happy with the skis.

now theyve messed up big time and handled it pretty much as badly as possible. really disgraceful. people were being pretty understanding at first too...

I can't believe I didn't say this before.. hopefully it's not too late and helps some of you.

I have a pair of used beater park skis.. edge is coming out near the tip. Easy fix. If you need a ski still let me know, they're yours for free, just pay for shipping and maybe a extra few bucks for a 6 pack:)

Also have a pair of brand new park sticks I'm willing to sell for cheap. Just pm me.
 
There's no chance of a recovery after how hard they fucked all of you guys. There was potential for them to keep it together if they communicated honestly what was going on throughout this winter and sent you all your money back while they figured their shit out. But, instead they decided to go silent and run with your money. So yeah, regardless of what they've said, there's no chance any of their customers are going to support them again. So they're done. Shitty to see with all the momentum and hype they had a year ago.

This is the second time these guys have taken money and ran. First time was Epic Planks, then they started Revision with that money. Can't say I'm surprised by this.

The business is not going to share financial and internal information with athletes. Athletes are paid to represent the brand, just like a model wearing clothes in a photo shoot.

The athletes also likely sign non-disclosure agreements on shit like this if somehow they are in the loop.

The company wont tell the athletes that they are going down the shitter, because the athlete will abandon ship right away and go to find their next sponsor.

There is no way there is an equal give and take in the sponsor/sponsored partnership. The people with the money hold all the cards and the people receiving the money do as told.

So what Toast has said is false. Two guys from Michigan started Epic Planks. A few years later a friend and I joined the business. A founder of Epic Planks wife incorporated Revision Skis Inc October 22 2013. That's public record but I won't post the link because it has personal info. I didn't become aware of the existence of Revision Skis until March 25 2014. It will forever be one of the most surreal days of my life. That a co-manager's wife incorporated Revision Skis and he didn't mention it to me for 5 months..... felt like getting hit by a truck. We stopped operating out of our factory shortly after I learned of this new company. That single individual was the only link between Epic Planks and Revision Skis.

Long story short Toast, there isn't any "they".

If 1 of 4 people left to start a new company, why did you stop production so quickly after? Not questioning the story or you, I'm curious how one guy leaving put you out of business almost immediately.

You're gonna have to at least buy me a beer if you want an autopsy, I'm just clearing up the idea that management at Epic Planks and Revision have anything in common besides one guy.

Generally speaking, building skis is a hard business to be in. You are building matched pairs of high performance composites that require lots of hazardous processing before and after the parts come out of the tool. The customers expect warranty coverage for non-manufacturing-defects and complain about price. Even if you are successful, the ownership will make pennies on the dollar compared to their value in other industries, so sooner or later your wife will say WTF.

Support the people who are doing it right and building quality products. What the crew at ON3P is doing is amazing and in some ways people take it for granted. At a minimum, I'd suggest supporting companies that show how they build your skis, regardless of if they build them in house or in China. If they can't show you their manufacturing process... keep your fingers crossed I guess, before and (maybe) after you get the skis.

Jokes aside, I can only imagine how hard and tiring it is to run a ski company, especially when starting from the complete ground up and pouring your blood sweat and tears into a startup company. Why the name epic planks though?

alright here is my opinion. fuck revison skis, me and the 2 other people i know who got scammed out our skis, love skiing way to much to not get our skis shipped all season. It is april, still no skis, and i am riding multiple core shot bent edge 2014 el dentes still, seesh. I dont care if ur a popular ski group or company trying to back up rivison skis, or make it seem like they care about the ski cummunity, fuck u. How is not giving what im guesing is thoausands of kids there skis, careing about the ski cummunity. I am willing to bet some kids missed there whole season due to this, and that is just emotinaly sad to think about. if the owners of rivision, really shared the same passion as the kids that are on the lyfstyle of shreding whenever is possible, they would not be able to live with them selfs scaming the people of freesking.

people will remmember it as the rivison skis hiest. ima file a fraud report through my cc company and try and get my mula back i guess. and sorry to anyone else that didnt get there skis to :(
 
I've been trying diligently to try and get the full story out of Bill and Revision.

He agreed to do an interview with me several weeks ago, but I haven't been able to get it done with many of the same communication issues as the customers and the team have faced. I'm not giving up though.

On another note, has anyone filled out the customer service form they put up and heard a response?
