There's this wonderful reveiw section, and we need it to get populated with THOUSANDS of reviews!

So if you've got product that you love or hate, please take some time to review it. That way we can all have good knowledge of how all the products work!

Don't just give things a 10 if they're pretty good... a 10 should be reserved for the best of the best. If something only works OK it should get a 5. Don't feel bad about dissing companies whose product sucks... we want the truth in there!

If its great, give it an 8

If it sucks but is ok...give it a 3 or 4

Dont just stick to the extremes of 1, 5, and 10.
 
its cool at backcoutry, when we buy stuff from the store, we have to fill out a review for it online, it helps get a lot of reviews filled out.
 
We can add it. I don't mind having snowboard gear in there!

There's an add manufacturer tool if you don't see the company you want to review.

 
We do our best! Chris and Paul slave away getting all this shit ready for you guys.

The biggest problem we have here is that people rarely stray out of the patterns they are used to. Reviews for instance.... not nearly enough people were using it because they were just going to the same site sections they always do.

Remember - scroll down the homepage, browse around the site... look past what you usually do! Chances are there's some cool shit you didn't know about!

 
there should be a window where the review can fill in what other movies he/she's seen.

this way, when a kid gives a 10 to MSP and fucks up the statistics, atleast we know why.
 
just wait till ski season is in full swing. Then we will have tested all our stuff and can actualy review it.
 
I'll bet more of the problem is kids giving a 10 to their friends movie. Everyone is comfortable hating MSP.

 
So you think the idea i superflous?

In my book, an experienced reviewer would earn a stronger point compared to someone who've only watched ski movie 1 & 2
 
lots of stuffs get a 10 tho, I think people like to give the stuff they have themselfs a nice 10 pointer
 
It will even out over time... we've just got to get literally thousands more reviews in there.

Stuff that has only been reviewed by one person, you really can't tell much. It will be when each product has been reviewed by 10 or more people!

 
The section is a fucking disaster. None of this is doing anything, I just checked and the entire "top rated products" is completely full of 10s. Everything from Igneous FFF 240ra, to salomon foils, to a fucking t-shirt and a baseball hat. What is this?

Wasn't this supposed to be a wiki-based system? Why can't we add to or edit 1 review for a single product. LSS is not the greatest movie of all time, if everyone who has watched the movie was able to contribute to the same review, you'd get something more accurate. And Mods should actively go through these reviews periodically and just straight up delete the reviews that have no substance.

Also, lets stop reviewing t-shirts and baseball hats and stuff of that sort. Technical outerwear, helmets, body armour, fine, but a toque is a toque and a shirt is a shirt.
 
There shouldnt be any reviews on this years gear for atleast a solid month (giving the west coasters a month to use it before giving a review).

After taking a shit, I've decided to review it. Upon first glimpse I would have given it a 7, but the relieving feeling adds another 1.5. So in the end, my most recent shit scores an 8.5.
 
I say we wipe the whole fucking section and start over, without the gayness this time. It's a disaster right now. 3 second reviews everywhere.
 
Honestly, I think the review section blows ass so hard. And I mean, seriously is a waste of time and I will never go there again until it majorly improves. I'm not gonna read some random newschoolers review and say hey now I'm gonna spend 800 bucks on some prophet 130s cause jonny from Ohio thinks they rock. I bet they do.

I think what would be really cool would be to have another review section cept the only people allowed to post would be a panel of reviewers that is elected by the mods or something. That way The reviews would be way more consistent. And people who have actually skiied lots of different product can make accurate evaluation/comparison.

And to whoever said it above...yea people always give 10s to their own shit, even if their shit stinks hardcore.
 
I like these thoughts.

I think the Reviews section is a great idea, but like every new idea, it will need some reconfiguring before it's really polished. Be patient, guys - they're putting in the man hours to add some new features for YOUR benefit.
 
well my spk boots are pretty good the only thing i don't like is that there isn't that much forward flex but they have sick padding and there cheap.

Also my kid scott poles are nice but break really easy.
