Reverse camber pow skis?

what are your thoughts on them?

my dad and i are looking into getting powder-only boards for next season and are really considering reverse camber.

what are your opinions on:

armada arg

k2 pontoon

k2 hellbent

and the salomon rocker

keep in mind this is just for powder, so no bitching about shittyness on groomers

line's?

noone around here carries them, thats why im TRYING to stay with, armadas k2s and salomons

but anyway yeah haha thanks bother

From your selection id probly go with the bents. 100% pow ski which is reverse camber and looks sick for buttering in the pow and an overall fun pow ski. If you wait for the new jp's they look pretty good for everywhere as they have normal camber underfoot which could help if you decide on a 1 ski quiver.

yea, we're more going for pow only right now

i have volkl karmas, and my dad has like 5 pairs so yeah haha

we're covered for groomers

Are you looking for rocker or reverse camber? They'll ski quite a bit differently depending on the conditions.

oh there's a differrence?

oh wait, is reverse camber like a rocker but flat under foot, like the ep pros and arg's?

lib is coming out with a pow ski called the recurve next season

super fun to ride and shreds pow, also reverse camber so

make sure to look into that ski as well

I wouldn't consider getting Salomon Rocker unless your making big ass turn, skiing gnarly lines and going straight often.

hellbents, pontoons or ARG's are all good for pow man if u like to ride sawitch in pow sometimes deff go for the hellbents rockers on both nose and tail and super buttery

jea~

I support this post. I let a friend borrow them for a couple runs yesterday. He said its like playing with the powder rather than ripping it, perfect description in my opinion, not that you cant charge pow in them.

Rockers are soooo burly and shit, only get them if you shred like hard core lines and are a big powerful skier. Args are pretty dope for pow and all mountain, they are decently stiff and shred hard.

But for overall just pow, get hellbents or ep pros. All you have to choose is stiffer or softer.

Next years JJ looks sick, but at 115 they aren't as big as the Hellbent or ARG. Much better all around though.

Worth checking out the Rossignol S7 aswell. skied a few runs on them today and they were really really fun in the powder. I'd still take the hellbents though.

my friend just got k2 hellbents and they are so fat. he looks funny in the air because im not used to seeing him in the air with them. he says they are the best skis ever.

pontoon and arg are going to be the best in pow...

rockers, args, or pontoons if you plan on charging.

hellbents if you just want to play around and dont go huge.

The hellbent is a massive ski. why would you not go huge on them? they're so capable all over the mountain

They're super soft and like to wheelie if you get backseat, which isn't ideal for charging. Definitely more of a fun ski than a fast ski.

I was charging pretty damn hard today on my EP Pros, really not a problem in most powder situations, but yeah they wont perform as well in poor conditions~

you can charge very hard on eps or hellbents... fuck wheeling backseat.. you just have to be a baller and stomp your landings... but you can go quite large with these skis...

Hi

I really like the Hellbents. Why do you prefere them over the Rossis.

I wont be able to try the S7's untill next winter..

ARGs shred the pow and crud stuff, but are horrible on groomers. I don't think the different sidecut idea works very well. But if you are only doing pow, they are sick.

I just got the hellbents, havent ridden them yet, but from what I heard they work well on groomers too, and in park. And obviously rad in pow.

Pontoons shradify pow apparently, but not exactly a switch ski. I have seen people rock them in the park, and on groomers I can't imagine them being horrible switch.

EP pros, I have heard are super soft, and the tapered tip and tail allow for sick butters and sick sw pow skiing. But I heard the tails are super soft, and kinda difficult to land big cliffs on.

I think it depends on what you are looking to do with your skis. Maybe look at volkls and whatnot.

Maybe you should tell us what you are wanting to do. Just ski deep pow? Where do you ride?

uhhh reverse camber means a camber ski..backwards....so basicaly there is little to no flat spot on the ski.

if your not a mad switch pow skier i think to best rockerd pow ski if your just lookin to shred would be the pontoon cause ive heard nothing but the fact that they are the best porforming in pow unless you like to shred switch.

i think you shoul look at gettin som Jah-Loves for only pow a whopping 140mm underfoot

I have the 189 Hellbents and love them. I can't really compare to them to the other rockered skis out there because I haven't ridden them, but I did have 189 Maden's before so that's what I compare them to. They are awesome. Yes, they are soft, but since I got the 189 and can go 100mph and still be fine. They always land so solid. Even in soft snow, dropping cliffs is too easy. The tips just do not want to go under the snow. You can be leaning forward on your landning, and still ski away. And for switch landings they are even easier. I land 180s off cliffs so much more consistantly that I did with my Maden's. It really gives me a lot more confidence to just huck big switch landings into pow, and the skis just keep me from falling (well, most of the time).

Then for cruddy shit later in the day when it gets tracked out, they rock. You can fly down the mountain and run over anything. They charge a lot better than the Maden's. And I ski them in the park sometimes. They actually ski very well on hard pack. The shorter running surface makes them perform like short skis, regardless of the 189 length. With my Maden's I would get stuck on my edges and not be able to slide the skis around a lot, but none of that with these. Off jumps in the park they actually do get a good amount of pop, its weird.

For powder, I suggest a rockered ski hands down. Before I got my Hellebents I was very skeptical of the skis. You could go back and find posts on here from me probably bashing them for seeming like a stupid idea at the begining of the season. But wow. I was wrong.

I suggest the Hellebents out of those options. No on the Salomon for the reasons other stated above. I havent skied them, but the ARG's reverse sidecut stuff seems weird and unnecessary to me. The Pontoons would be a good choice, but only if you don't like going backwards, which is bad for me because I ski pow switch more than forwards.

Spark Notes version: Get the damn Hellbents, and thank me later.

hey yea though you just might want to consider that they suck on groomers and stuff, but they are way steezy if you dont have poles.
