Revelstoke Vs. Fernie

Hey NS!

Going down to either revelstoke or fernie right after christmas, which is better in your opinion. Looking for steep and deep. Thank you for the input!
 
REVELSTOKE, no competition, i will be going to revelstoke for a few weeks this year, and not even bothering with fernie even though it is an hour closer
 
Hit up Revelstoke. For some reason, I haven't skied there yet... I'll be going this year.

You can also hit up Kicking Horse, 1.5 hours east of Revelstoke. Similar terrain. Steep and deep.

I don't know about you, but they can charge about whatever the hell they want and I'd probably pay it. Same for Revelstoke.
 
Lol image fail. Ya i dunno about you, but 95 bucks a day or whatever, is a little pricey. Id rather spend 45 bucks a day at a small resort...

It's $75, just as much as Revelstoke or Fernie.

Want a cheaper small resort in the area? Head south to Whitewater or Red.

Whitewater full day adult - $62.50

Red Mountain full day adult - $66.00
 
You can get gusts coming off the back of the range. It gets windy, but I've also had the same amount of wind in places like Louise, Red, and even COP.

You just notice it more at KH since they shut down the gondola at gusts over 75km/h or so.
 
Oh word, thats more reasonable than i thought.

I have been to both red and white water and loved white water. I have lived in Nelson before.

I have heard of a small resort like 6 or 7 hours into BC that is absolutely insane.
 
Revelstoke hands down, especially @ that time of the year. Fernie can still be warm around that time and raining on and off. I can almost guarentee revy will be dumping...
 
Revelstoke for sure, in my opinion it has the best skiing (at least if you like steep and deep) of any resort in BC.
 
wow, Revy has the hype on NS I guess. Fernie is an awesome hill, but that early in the season is hit or miss. I had one of the deepest days of my life on boxing day 4 years ago (Anaconda/Bootleg glades after a big dump and wind loading). Kicking Horse has the largest amount of good terrain accessed by lift of any of the 3.
 
If you get your Revy lift tix online they are way cheaper. I think I paid like 65 a day or less in March last season. But if you do that, make sure you get to the ticket office early or there is a line for everyone picking up online tickets..on a pow day, you don't want that to be an issue.
 
Liftopia had 2 day tickets for $99, for Revy last season. The reciprocal pass deal drops day tickets to around $54. If you go with the LL card, you get 7 days @ $44.

Both mountains are great. Wait and plan your trip last minute and go where the snow is best.
 
kicking horse is more open chutes and rock kind of terrain, revelstoke is a lot more trees while still steep and alot more options for the skier? i guess you could say. For me and my friends after skiing 2 days revelstoke, we could hardly stant skiing kicking horse on the way back
 
zomg want to build a booter at the top of the pass so fucking bad this year, I absolutely need to.
 
Revy is fucking insane. SO much god damn terrain to complete kill yourself on before even stepping a foot out of bounds. Less busy then Fernie, its not owned by fucking rcr, and they get way more snow.
If they dont get snow for a while... they have a whole section of the "cat" skiing portion that is easily accessible out of bounds, just be BC ready
 
trust me - with the abundance of amazing terrain up there to ski - you don't need to build a booter.
 
but you'll hike up there to build a jump? which takes more effort? if you say the jump is less effort than I'll go ahead and say you haven't gone touring before.

And most day circuits at the pass are three to four runs, of classic kootenay skiing. but that's enough of kootenay pass talk. Revelstoke is muchos better than Fernie. muchos, muchos better.
