retaking classes

ok so how many of you have had to retake classes in college because you failed the first time? I seem to be straggling kind of because of all the activities. and I'm just wondering if it's normal to fail classes. My parents expect a fuckin 4.0 out of me in college which is stressing me out. and i think I'm gonna fail some

same here dude. i failed first semester vector mechanics and now i cant take electromagnetism and wave motion because of it. so i gotta do that next year or in the summer. i don't wanna waste my summer with that shit. i hate being such a lazy idiot. i can't bring myself to get anything done, or study. it sucks. i'm skipping school for the third day in a row too, so that's not cool either. but what can i say, i like to sleep.

'get the fuck away from me, i'm only paying for two'
't-bone is da illest' -'i'm sorry to hear that, i hope he gets better'

It's somewhat normal, but it's still not a good thing. Chances are that you're going to be put on academic probation. I seriously suggest you do everything possible to not fail, including talking to the prof.

yeah...i failed stats last semester. and then when you go to retake it, you dont wanna ever go because you're all like, pfft, i already learned this.

if you do well in the other classes, you should be able to avoid academic probation.

you'll notice that he said he's gonna fail some. That means he'll likely be on probation. I don't know how your school works, but at mine if you don't get out of probation by the next semmester you get kicked out.

I didnt pass a math class I took last year because it was ridiculously tough, my professor didn't know what he was doing, and I suck at math and hadnt taken any math for a year..Just make sure you do well your next quarter and you'll be fine. And I suggest if you have to take it again, take it the very next quarter/semester so it will be fresh in your brain.

Just don't get on academic probation, that shit sucks.

Bahahaha... or, you could call it the 'elitist snob' cult. Anyways, my family already owns a country club, so no thanks.

It's not hard to pass, if you go to class, study before tests, and do all the homework, you are guaranteed to at least pass. People fail because they're lazy, not because they're stupid. Being lazy is something entirely up to you, it's not a genetic condition that you can't overcome.

it's hard though. I have bad discipline so I stay up all night smoking weed and drinking most nights with buddies and then it's time to go to school and i can't get up. and there's also the factor of signing up for classes that are too hard for me

Gdawg, you're partly right..A large part of why I didnt pass that class was due to my laziness, no doubt. However, I think it can be a combination of both. You have to consider situational factors too.

Gdawg, I'd say that's true most of the time, however, I'm taking a class right now where that doesn't hold true at all. In a class of 700 people the class average on the mid-term was 47%. The material in the course is extremely difficult (hardest class I've ever taken and this is my fifth year in post secondary), and the extremely large class size doesn't help. Many people who failed the mid-term worked really hard. The drop out and failure rate for this class is normally above 65%. I'm confident that there's a handful of people who work hard for an F in this class.

i think i'm doing better in university than i did in high school in every class but one. i get 80s and 90s, and then when it comes to chemistry (worst subject ever) i just can't do well. i need a tutor i think.

I'm definitely doing better in all my classes than I did in HS. Difference is I care more now. Funny how tuition will do that to you.

Yeah, I agree, the one caveat is huge class sizes. In my Physics 2 class there are 300 people, and it's definitely hard to learn when all you have is notes copies from an overhead. And petek, I have a 3.7, Dean's List, bitches.

hell ya..i got all b's last year, and last term i failed one class almost 2, due to my laziness, i dont know about this term, i hope im not failing again, cause one is hard i dont know what the fuck he wants us to write about.

it's a big difference when you are paying versus your parents footing the bill...tells you something

why use a big word when a diminutive one will suffice?

i've been in this situation once but i realized it early on and droped the class so it would not affect my GPA and would stop taking up all my time. and took it the next quarter and have learned so much more

you can always transfer....i was pulling a solid 50% across the board first semester, but then i ditched chem and shit for some arts courses and its pulling me up....i figufred that maybe if your failing something and not liking it, GET OUT. Who wants that for a career?
