all i have to say is... YOU DIRTY HIPPYS !!! You posers !! You dont even know what your protesting against you were paid off and you just want to get on TV. Why fight a meeting that is improving peoples rights in other countries by spreading democracy? Posers...

 
So what's the deal with everyone saying 'You don't even know what you're fighting for!!'. I don't understand that.. why wouldn't they know what they're 'fighting for'? I mean, what's the big deal? It's not like some insanely large secret as to what the subject of argument is... everytime I hear someone bash the protestors, they say that they don't know why they're doing it! I seriously don't understand. Maybe everyone is looking for something bad to say about protestors so they accuse them of fighting just for fighting? Why would someone fly 3,000 miles just to walk around holding a sign if they had no idea what the hell they were doing? Please explain.

CandideWannabee, I don't think that you completely unerstood what the FTA wants to do. Yes they are spreading democracy (to a certain degree) but they are also spreading capitalism to 3rd world countries, allowing US corporations to profit from them even more than they currently do.

 
I think protestors know the intent of their demonstration. but once they are there, all emotions run high and they forget what they are fighting for. Now, the talks are shifting towards how bad the policing was and shit.

 
As one of these 'dirty hippies', 'poseurs', and people who don't even know what we're protesting against, as Candidewannabe so elegantly put it. I have one message for you, but since i don't know if we're allowed to use words like that on this forum i'll tell you why people were there. (and this reason is not some secret that i am keeping, everyone who was there knows it).

People were in Quebec City for your sake Candide, and for those millions of people who will be adversly affected by this undemocratic agreement. How dare you call these people selfish by saying they only wanted to get on TV.

 
i realized that right after i clicked reply haha. i didnt look at the dates though, all i did was switch the thread id to 2, cause 1 bring you to the main forum page... so 2 is before 2fifty whatever, but it was incorrect :(
