Respect- Will newschoolers actually enjoi a big mountain flick?

if it is a good flick, by which i mean good cinematography, editing, and skiers, i will enjoy it. no matter if it is urban, park, big mountain, east coast west coast, whatever. if the skiing is good, im a fan. i wish more NS'ers could take this approach to skiing and ski movies, especially considering that the majority of the members that talk shit on this site can't back it up and cannot do any of the things that they hate on, like big mountain skiing.

everyone who can´t enjoy such amazing skiing is just envious because he never will see mountains like that...

I can understand the view point of some ns'ers who won't enjoi this movie because I think it's hard to appreciate something you can't relate to and/or truly understand. it's hard to appreciate a huge ak face being shredded unless you really now what it's like to stand on top of a knife edge peak with a 2000 foot cliff behind you and a 50 degree 3000 foot face that rolls over and is a complete blind drop in front of you.

i relate it to the fact that i don't like watching a rail being slid 10 times, 14 different ways, but that's cause i don't slide rails. (they make my balls hurt when i do try)

as jibij said though the trick is to make a movie that is so well rounded and so well done that even a steezed-out snowboarder or park-rat will enjoi the movie.

I enjoy to ski more back country than I do park but I can't watch big mountain movies. Just too slow for my tastes, gotta see innovation in newschool riding to peak me interest, even thought it's not the kind of riding I do.

in my opinion, so does standard park videos and BC jib videos. they all throw pretty much the same trick. i dunno, i like big mountain, dont like park as much.

i have never had the chance to ski something that crazy but i still like big mountian. am i an anomoly?

Big mountain is insane to watch now. People are starting to do some crazy lines that I wouldn't have the balls to stand on top of, much less drop into. I enjoy watching someone drop 50' and straightline at 70mph much more than I like watching an hour of steeze in the park. I guess you have to be able to associate with something in order to appreciate it.

no your not, I have never stood next to a 2000 ft clif either, but it will be a sick movie. On another note is there anyone here who just cant stand segments of solid urban? I know if a segment is more then 30-40% urban I will just skip it.

I HATE urban. Probably because I haven't done it much, but to me it's just like skiing the park except incredibly sketchy and shitty. Really no appeal to me whatsoever.

Newschoolers will enjoy anything that shows some level of creativity, good editting/production, and relevance to this sport.

That being said, if it's JUST lines, it's going to be boring. If it's lines with tricks and such, and looks different from every other big mountain movie ever, you'll get a good fan following.

To me, powder skiing is something I have to do myself to aappreciate how great it is. I just cant stand watching it.

It would have to have really fast editing with original cinematography and techno music for it to keep my attention. In general, I hate watching big mountain skiing, so they would have to do a lot to keep my interest.

I don't mind a bit of it, it can be cool, but an entire segment is retarded boring, e.g. DC in Shanghai Six.

haha I own 1242 and I've only watched his segment once and that was the first time I saw the movie. I always skip it.

i wont, because i cant relate, ive had one pow morning (of super heavy shit) and then another night with 4 inches of snow in my life and then the odd like 20 feet of fresh here and there so it just doesnt mean anything to me, maybe if i get to ski a steep run with fresh snow one day i will like it, im hoping i get some good runs this year though this year though...

I don't like watching big mt. skiing because either its so gnarly that i can't ever relate to that experince or its something that i could do and is only intresting when you are doing it and not watching someone else do it. I mean very very few NSers go helli skiing or have good access so how can we relate to that experince, we cant. On the other hand we all have easy access to parks and so we can relate.

the trailer for this movie, was insane ... i cant wait to see it, even if it does bore me somewhat which i doubt it will. I wanna see it aswell as every other new ski movie coming out.

waiting game was sick. the trailer's just to get the big mt. lovers on board, but they manage to mix it up a bit in the films

Not necessarily. There aren't good parks everywhere, especially at the smaller resorts that have good terrain. The biggest table at my mountain is about 10', but I can think of several 80'+ cliffs that are fairly easily accessible.

Ah yes, but powder skiing is big mountain skiing. And most "big mountain" skiing I do involves powder. Well techinically almost all the skiing I do is big mountain, since MT isn't really a park state.
