I don’t know about now but Northstar had employee housing on resort back in the day if you got in early. Apparently keystone does too.

I’ll look into those. Park is a big plus but if there’s just good natural terrain I can settle for that lol

North Star doesn’t have good terrain overall but the parks are killer

No park once again but I know baker is usually looking for people this time of year and the terrain is rad.

Revelstoke is always looking. Park is ok, town is ok, but the resort/ surrounding area is unreal if soft snow is your thing.

Its crazy-competitive in resort towns all over nowadays so good luck. It sucks how all the income property/airbnb/vacation rentals/etc. have pit everyone in these communities against each other just to have a roof over our heads. One of our park crew guys sleeps in his car in the parking lot. Thats fucking unacceptable.

But good luck. Disregard my rant, not trying to be cynical.

Fuck. Gotta get in while I can then ig.

dont be afraid to look at Woodward PC or any of those properties around the country. They have housing too though limited and somewhat "Reasonable" compared to everything else.

Also if you're going to rent in Summit County UT or anywhere in PC, be wary of those greedy rental property owners. They can and will kick you out at any given notice and you're homeless for a few weeks in the middle of winter. Fuck anything thats a winter rental. Theres almost always beds that open up so don't be afraid to get friendly with your co-workers. Ya never know.

Aspen ski co always had some employee housing. I’m sure it’s competitive but worth applying and trying to get in.

Terrain and park are sick.

Northstar got rid of sawmill a linggg time ago. They don't have any employee housing other than maybe a sketchy space hear and there to fill with j1s

Also Vail sucks. Parks are fun though and tahoe is a cool spot. Housing is harder in tahoe but still easier than other places. It exists. Some places there just isn't housing. Also worst case ontario can rock a cheap room in reno while searching. Which makes it at least doable.

Aspen ski co is sick. For a mega corp they seemed to care about employees. Bus service is pretty legit getting around the valley. Great skiing, fun nightlight, belly up and other concerts.

Employee housing is competitive though so depends on the department, your experience, how mzny rooms they have, and how early you get on it.

They had some pretty decent housing in aspen and snowmass. I lived in snowmass. They were always looking for new housing even 6 years ago when other places were sleeping.

Its pretty wild some of the stories Im hearing from my co workers. Im paying out the ass myself in rent down in SLC but damn dude considering the wages we're making and we still have yet to receive the promised paybump that was supposed to be company-wide is kinda irritating me rn. PWDR isn't terrible to work for but they need to get it together or else some of us are walking elsewhere. We like our jobs and we like what we do, helping people, and being around stuff we love. We shouldn't be subjected to poverty just because of that, ya know.

We have some employee housing at Crystal still but they got rid of on mtn dorms. It's going to be a 10-15 min drive but they have vans to carpool back and forth. New housing spot seems not the best but okay. I think everyone is sharing a room. Because of limited rooms. Probably pretty common though especially these days. VR was sharing rooms 2 to 3 people even 7 or 8 years ago. I think just 2 to a room though.

Crystal has sick as fuck terrain and we raised our base wage to $20 an hour which is pretty solid. It's Alterra but it still feels like a small mtn at least for now.

Parks are pretty fun and getting better. Nothing huge but usually some decent up to medium jumps and some decent rails.

Yeeeup. Snowbird announced that they're going 20 across the board as well as other properties so no idea. Have heard lots of rumblings that this upper management does not have their shit together so far. Its fucking some of us over for real. I don't care if anyone in corporate reads this because we love this shit and we want to take care of shit so help us out, yo.

We need to unionize as resort workers and especially patrol and those who put in major work to keep the assets clean and safe and fun. Everyone. Lets get after it.

Yeah i was hoping snow cat guys would ag some point. At least places are struggling to find good workers. Some of them are hurting and it's great. People exploited "the dream" even when that dream didn't exist. Pay up or get fucked.

I still haven't figured out where I'm living this winter but at least I'm getting paid more.

Mammoth. Although by now they're probably full, but people get evicted daily so you can get on a wait list and have a decent chance.

Just be warned, they don't consider it a residence under the law, but rather a hotel. As such, your room will be searched without your knowledge or permission.

Just gonna echo Aspen Skiing Company. They have like 1000 beds 800 of which are seasonal. Its really not that competitive tho they have been understaffed on liftys and such for the last couple seasons. They pay pretty decent and u get a season pass for 4 world class mountains. If not Aspen I would concider something in Canada or the swiss alps. Or Sweden ?

Looks like Aspen Ski Co is pulling ahead as the winner. If I can recommend one thing, it’s try to get in as early as you can for the best chance at optimizing your experience. Don’t want to be the last guy in who gets the bad housing and bad shifts. Also, it’s good to get in early to make connections for the homie hook up at bars, shops, etc.

try big sky in montana, really good park, decent big mountain skiing and employee housing doesn't suck terribly

Only decent big mountain? I think you need to get out of the 603 a bit more

Do they have housing there? Everyone I know lives around white salmon. Not trying to move just curious

Plus one for mammoth, I did a year of employee housing there back in 06 and been back a number of times over the years. Terrain parks deserve their reputation as one of the best in the world. In recent years it’s almost under rated for how perfect they are, day in and day out, and the variety between all different areas is second to none.

Not sure about June’s parks these days as I haven’t been there, but that stuff was pristine back in the day as well. Total untouched groomers at noon still, it was amazing. also, if you are into touring, and know your shit, there is some incredible terrain off of the back of June. Real deal eastern sierra style lines with a lift taking you right to the base of the goods.

Then if you want actual all mountain skiing at Mammoth, again, that mountain is one of the best out there. From all time storm skiing off of chair 22, to awesome wide open bowls and spicy, spicy runs elsewhere… you have everything you could ever want all at one resort, at the highest level. I moved to mammoth as an east coast park rat and totally came away loving all aspects of skiing.

If you can’t tell, I love Mammoth. I’ve been lucky to have been to quite a few resorts over my time of skiing… and Mammoth is one of the best places to offer the FULL package for everything. Totally worth your consideration.

When I lived in Tahoe, Mammoth was a yearly migration early season and late season. Totally deserves the hype.

Not Telluride. My brother can't find a place to stay and may have to give up his instructor spot.

same thing happened to me. ended up building out a camper van just so I could work park crew lmao

No, but they still have the turns for tenants program where locals get free passes for renting to employees. Had cheap rent at a place in welches when working as a liftie there.

When did you get in? Maybe it's changed. I got housing when I lived there and most of the crew was in various employee housing. I'm sure each department has limited spots though. I worked there 16/17. Would go back now that snowmass is kind of running everything. Buttemilk was kinda rough when I worked there.

No I am pretty sure they used to at one point. But most of my homies who work there live in Hood, Sandy or Parkdale which has some spots. White Salmon is a huge commute

There were a few posts for Mammoth in here. From what I hear that's a very difficult one these days. I don't think they have much employee housing open or really much housing in general.

Friend of mine moved out there 2 years ago to be a park groomer(had the job) Couldn't find a place to live, ended up snagging a job at Brighton and driving to SLC.

Idk what they have for each department but good park groomers usually have some priority to housing and there wasn't anything.

When I moved to Tahoe was the only time I didn't have employee housing lined up before moving. They don't really have employee housing around Tahoe. But generally my moves were dependent on housing coming through.

If there wasn't housing it's all good, no hard feelings but I'm going elsewhere. A few of the places it would have been extremely unlikely I would have found a place to live had I not been in employee housing.

Def always helps to have multiple applications in and a backup plan. Even just with the job you might not land the job you want at that one mtn. Good to have options.

Yeah for sure. Even to meadows. I also hate that bridge or I'd prolly skate Bingen more.

Interested to see how those apartments in welches go. They're going to need to build more stuff like that and lock some down for employee housing.

Nothing is getting built in govy these days unless it's an airbnb or some super rich persons ski home.

I actually got hassled for the first time buy an LEI douche about camping. Dude was miserable. Probably always wanted to be a cop so he could be an ass.

I wonder what Tline is gonna do if they get rid of the summits for that gondola.

Land isn't cheap but I think places have to pony up and buy some stuff. A lot of areas are going to be unstaffable or the pay will have to be $$$ just to keep them running.

Ya ever since they uped the toll to 2 bucks i rarely send it to Bingen to skate, Hoodie park is better anyways. Im not sure why Tline hasnt put any employee housing in, they have the cash flow and people just gotta make it happpen.

Haha all these outta state cunts are coming here and acting like they own the place, that douche probably wassniffing his own ass after that.

Im not sure if I want the gondola I think it would be sick, but also such a nasty eye sore for Hood shes just too beautiful.

Im trying to pick up some land by Parkdale if I do cop some green space I'll build some homes for the homies to rent.

This is not true, there are terrain park employees in year round ASC employee housing.

I wouldn't necessarily call ASC a mega corp as we are privately owned by a singular, albeit wealthy, family. ASC does not answer to shareholders and as such, we can prioritize our employees, our guests, and our community.

I mean call it however. It's not your local small hill. It's 4 major ski areas, a ton of traffic a shit ton of money. That's all I was saying. Also pre the wild vail altera shit shows they were one of the biggest in the country.

+1 for Baker. There is truly nothing up there except for the ski area and touring access, no mountain town or anything until you get 30 minutes off the hill to Glacier.
