Resort Uses Radar Guns to Slow Reckless Skiers

good. im all for them trying to control that shit on the main trails. in that one story did you see how many near crashes they got (exluding the youtube clip) there definately are people out there who ski way out of their league...even though they think theyre in complete control...and its those peoples that should be curbed. i like that radar gun idea.

HAHA, "limited to 19mph" Fuck that. I can see that if its like a green or a family ski area, what about the double and single diamonds? Thats why I like the smaller resorts like Loveland or A-Basin.

they will only radar on the easiest way down or on greens. It isn't like they are doing this on any runs I would ski on anyways...except at keystone trying to get to the park...ridiculous.

I was so gonna start this thread myself :P

What a lame ass story. What was that comment about hundreds of people dying in the past years? I don't think all those deaths were from collisions from out-of-control skiers.

those yahoo news stories never seem to work for me. i watch the ad they show first, but when it ends the actual story never starts. i wonder what it could be. anyways, the idea sounds lame to me, but i didn't even see the story so......i just know i hate getting speeding tickets and if it's anything like that it would make me so mad.

hmmmm.... dumb! It should be a judgment call, not a set speed. You can watch someone and tell if they're an expert or not at first glance of form. I can dodge gapers better at speed. Still, I don't see many gapers when I'm on the diamonds, trees, backside... just one more reason to stay away from those green runs. Effin bunny hill is the most dangerous hill on the whole mtn IMO!

Dam next thing they will have sirens and flashing lights on top of thhier helmets and pull people over.

John and Ponch on uni-ski interceptors....

seven mary 3, we have a high speed pursuit on the marshmallow run, requesting helicopter assistance and backup units... use deadly force if necessary.

Even worse - I am envisioning photo radar units linked to radio frequency ID tags on tickets and passes. Break the speed limit and the system would automatically deactivate the pass. Next time you try to get on the lift and they scan your pass - Denied!

Big Brother on the slopes.

i was out on the hill one day, stopped for a second on a busy groomer with a big slow zone sign, when a kid probably around 10 or 9 came whizzing by at a ridiculous speed, way to fast for him, he was so out of control.. funny thing is that the whole time he was in a snowplow, yet somehow managed to go that fast..

they are just trying to keep all the beginers safe i doubt they will do anything on the more advanced runs. Pray they dont try and do anything in the park.It would be alot safer if alot of people just stayed home.

they might not use radar guns but like theres usually a ski patroller standing around on the beginner runs looking for people going fast at any hill

what every resort needs is a BLACK run down to the bottom.

then you can go normal speed down to the base area. its not like you're skiing the flat groomers for fun, sometimes you gotta get down to a lift or to your car. so why not dedicate a run for these "faster" skiers to get "safely" to their automobiles?

we have just got to remember its not our speed that is going to hurt someone, its the learners and family's who lose balance make unpredictable turns which we who ski at a constant 40+ cant compensate for so we end up fucking our selfs over and possibly them when trying to avoid them. theres a simple thing we can do to avoid these newb's, ski BC all the way..lol

i really can't blame the resorts for starting this

right now in the US, nothing is ever someone's fault... if they ski out of control and crash it's almost starting to be considered normal to sue the resort ( this is just an example)

if people started taking responsibility for their actions instead of blaming others, then most things like this wouldnt have to happen

Ya theres some reckless people on the slopes sometimes but... I hate how the media portrays everything. They made it seem like it was a HUGE problem and the only people that die are really the ones that run into trees not other people... Just be careful out there and you will be fine.

i think an idiot snowboarder noob with ski poles sliding down the headwall of Kings Landing on his stomach face first at sugarloaf is more dangerous than someone hauling ass down it....GAAAAY

haahahah thats so lame, i could see a patroller like hiding behind a snow bank and gunning someone then "pulling them over" and being like "im officer boone and do you have any idea how fast you were going" in a total hick voice.

i hate when people sit in the middle of step crowded runs...it riuns my day... I've only been hit twice when i was little..a guy frickin drilled me ha...that man in the video would be an asshole to call a kid that though

haha im reading that in class right now. i didnt know where that whole big brother is watching shit was from, and then halfway through class i almost flipped a shit when i read it, maaaad stoked haha
