yup, probably best bet, and lots of other ski areas within a days drive from baker.

Alright if you really want to chase the powder your going to have to do a little bit more than ask for resorts that get consistent good snow. Just because Jackson gets over 400 inches a year doesn't mean that it will be snowing in Jan or even that the snow will be good. Resorts that are known for pow don't get it every day like mountains that are known for good parks. You really have to hit the mountain on a good day or good week.
My recommendation is to chose a mountain in each region, PNW, MT, UT, CO and CA. Pick a primary and then have some back up options and mountains in other places. Thats typically what i do. Read the actual scientific weather blotter for that area, familiarize yourself with what the weather patterns are there and a week or so before your trip watch it closely and see if any storms are tracking that way. Having a back up or two will help you make really fast plan changes so you can make it to the region thats getting hit hard. But honestly its still along shot even if you have 2 back up plans many times its just not snowing anywhere in the US, or enough to consider it a real pow day.
But in the past thats what I've done, gone to the PNW and had UT and MT as backup plans, turned out PNW had the best weather out of all of them that week. Good luck.. but you should probably just ask what mountains have the best terrain in those specific areas.
