Rescued an Owl

Found an album of old photos I didn't know I had, these where in there and I thought I would share.

I was hiking in a sanctuary and found this guy hoping along, freaked the fuck out, he couldn't fly and it looked like he had damaged his wing.

Picked him up with a jacket and hiked out of there, drove home, and called a buddy of mine who had a license for dealing with birds of prey.

Under closer examination, we realized he had fishing line wrapped tightly around part of his wing and body. Took if off, fed him some mice and kept him for the day and night.

He loved the top of his head to be scratched and enjoyed exploring our house

Serious so damn cool.

Whats your awesome animal story?

he's actually way bigger than the pictures depict, almost 2 ft tall when he's sitting straight up straight

Fuck yeah that's sweet. I've never rescued an animal other than some little ass birds when I was a kid. But props that owl is dope

My dad and I were out waterfowl hunting a few years ago and we came upon a coot that had a hook in it's bill and the fishing line was wrapped in weeds. I didn't want to damage it's bill so I cut the line and it swam away.

i didnt even rescue an animal but a fox came and got stuck in my garage once, so i opened the door and it ran away. :'(

On a side note in the first pic the owl looks like he dropped a couple tabs of acid and is laying in the grass in another dimension

Nice comment dick weed.(high five.. anyone.. anyone.. SFB?)

That how owls eyes are read a fucking book for once gosh.

A few summers ago, a baby raccoon wandered into my yard. I picked the little guy up and kept him for almost a year before he got huge and I was afraid of my face getting ripped off. The raccoon and my dog were friends and it was cute as hell!

I ran over a squirrel put it in a box with milk and peanuts in my basement and nursed him back to full health

my friend hit a baby turkey on his quad and his neighbor who is a bird doctor of some sort nursed it back to health

One of my friends had an owl fly into his car and it got stuck under the roof racks. He picked me up, we went to get burritos and we didn't realize it until we walked back to the car. Thought it was a prank. Poor thing was dead...Sad story

I've rescued many a baby bird that had fallen from the nest. A few times they died though :(. Nothing sadder.

It was cool with you touching it and all that? I feel like if it was perched on your chair or something and you approached it, it would freak out and like fly into the wall. Are they cool with humans? Or this guy was, anyway?

I was swimming in the lake and found this guy drowning, freaked the fuck out.

I almost didn't go to the lake that day because of studying for finals. He's so lucky I didn't my school work and went down/ There was noone else there and he wouldn't have stood a chance. Some people would call that sort of thing heroic, but I like to tell people I'm just a regular guy that was in the right place at the right time.

Found a tiny baby squirrel outside my house, raised it.

Actually though, it was super fun. They wrestle with your hand and can climb almost anything, not to mention they are probably the softest animals in existence. Then he lived in various trees near our house for a couple years and you called him he would come climb on you. Pretty awesome experience.

We found a young buzzard trapped in our garden. We took him into our house and looked after him for a while before taking him to the local sanctuary. He was really scared of us at first, but he soon got used to us.

yea he was freaked out at first and tried to bite you with his godamn scary beak but i just approached slowly and eventually was amble to lightly rub the top of his head and then he would relax but any sudden movements or new people would make his chest puff out and that damn beak to start going. he was so soft too!

My dad was out hunting for boars once, when our dog picked up a baby wild boar that had a broken hind leg, so we fixed him up (he was very young) got his leg fixed and as his mother was dead (hit by a car as i recall) we couldnt release him to the wild to die, so we kept him.

he grew up with us to full adult strength. (he was a big motherfucker) He often escaped, as we live in the forest, and he is a wild animal so we didn't mind.

As an adult, he got hit by a car once after he ran away, so we got a call from the police that a wild boar had been hit by a car, so my dad drove out there, and all he'd have to do is make a grunting noise and say his name, and you'd see the wild boar charging out of the woods, in top shape, while the car was trashed.

Overall it was a great experience to have him, so funny when we were in the woods on a walk, the people walking in the opposite direction would always freak out and warn us not to move, because there was a wild boar behind us.

I can post some pics if i find some.

So yeah, I had a pet wild boar /claim

wasn'T really much. and it's the only one i can remember but im sure i've helped out animals a few other times.but I was working at a restaurant taking out the trash and the lid of the huge trash can was still open..

i go and dump the trash in it and i hear something moving.

im like dafuq.

I look inside and there was the fattest fucking racoon I had ever seen.,

So I found a long piece of wood that was lying around and stuck it in.

Came back 2 hours later and he was gone.

I was happy it worked.
