REQ: Univ. of Colo. & Univ. of Utah Dorm Pictures

Ok so here is the deal.

I live in California and am leaving for college in spring. I got into both Boulder and Utah and cannot decide which one I want to go to.

I like the town around Boulder, but it is so far from mountains (other than Eldora). I do not like SLC so much (kinda dull from my visit there).

I visited both campuses and have seen buildings and stuff, but would like to see some pictures of what the dorms look like.

If anyone has pictures (the ones on the websites are kinda misleading) it would be greatly appreciated if you could post them here or e-mail them to me @ Jake.Kirshner@gmail.com.

Any thoughts on what school I should choose are also welcome (I know this has been debated to death).

are you seriously going to pick which university you're going to go to based on what the dorms look like? get your priorities straight

well i am going to CU and i was in your exact same situation a year ago. the Utah dorms are pretty nice, and it depends where you get into at CU. not gonna lie Will Vill blows and that is where i live at CU. but there are nice dorms at CU too. even with the shitty dorms i am so much happier at CU than i would have been at Utah.

JBird - Bite me, I visited both campuses, analyzed which has better education (CU - astrophysics UofU - Computer Engineering) and while dorms are definitely not the only thing in my consideration, my living situation has an impact on which school I choose. Just because I don't spend all day taking pictures of my damn ski jackets doesn't mean I don't work hard in school-

Monkey - Thanks for the info, you think the Utah dorms were actually nicer than the CU dorms (from what I saw the CU dorms looked to be in a nicer location)-

I'm just saying that what the dorms look like is not really an important factor as to which school you choose. You are only going to spend a small fraction of your time in your dorm, especially at either of those schools, there's so much fun shit to do. Dorms are pretty much the same at all schools, at least at public universities, and your going to realize by the time you finish your first year that the dorms suck and you'll want to move off campus. There's much more important factors to think about when choosing a school like the proximity to skiing (which you have obviously considered), the female to male ratio, whether it is a party school (Boulder is a huge party school, Utah not so much),what programs they offer, etc.

btw, the pictures were for selling crap, I don't pictures of my shit just for fun

Thats funny that you list education last, considering most people go to college to get an education to be successful in life. But anyway I go to CU and I'll try to hook you up with some pics of my dorm in a few minutes...

This is an old pic. Now it's dirty as hell and the walls are covered in posters

u r wrong. i dont know if you are attending a university right now or what, but the dorms at CU vary SOOOOOO much. if you get into Farrand you can get the flyest rooms (with balconies, kitchens, living rooms and so on), then there is will vill which is a stack of mostly uniform doubles that suck ass except for the occasional suite that costs more. at U of U all of the dorms were made for olympic athletes in 2002 i think it was. so they are all pretty nice but pretty uniform. but i think you get your own bathroom which is sweet.

now hypthetically if it were to come down to just your dorm situation, if you like taking risks go to Colorado cuz you can definetley get hooked up with a dope room, ESPECIALLY IF YOU APPLY FOR RESIDENCE EARLY AND DONT PUT WILL VILL AS ONE OF YOUR OPTIONS. put Farrand 1st, then Libby, Hallet, Baker, Cheyenne Arapahoe, and maybe Kittredge last.

The reason Will Vill sux is that it is off campus, the layout sux and its 4 big towers that have shitty food and you have to take a bus to campus. but its a huge party on the weekends i will admit that. its like a housing project basically, a housing project full of rich kids, hahha.

oh yeah and on a side note, not that it really matters.... or maybe it does, will vill has the most rediculous urban rails. tons of them. they are in so many movies high five, shanghai six, ski porn, pop yer bottlez the list goes on...

oh my god is there any question. you would be retarded not to go to boulder. believe me you want to like ur college

hey a tip on that shit... just put farrand tripple, double, single, libby tripple, double, single, cheyeho tripple double

you don't have to do 8 differnet dorms, just change the roomate options

here's a shot of my quad from farrand

let me compare for you:

the U:

sickest dorms ever, theyre practically brand new (built for athletes in the olympics) so theyre super nice. skiing is 25 minutes away. theres snowbird, alta, park city, brighton and solitude close by. the mormons arent a big deal, dont worry about it. SLC is pretty fun, the only downside is 3.2 beer but theres keggers every weekend with real beer and its not hard to find someone to buy from the liquor store for you + theres a market place a mile from campus that sells to basically anyone so beer is easy to get. utah gets way more powder than CO (i live in CO, now utah so i do know what im talking about). passes in utah cost more than in utah, i paid 375 for PC and 425 i think for brighton.

boulder:

sick town, boulders the shit. jibij is there so thats nice too. skiing is an hour and a half away. season passes are way cheaper. you get 5 mountains for around 360 or something like that if youre an adult, 200 for teens. WP and copper are like 200 for teens too. both are sick, utah is much closer to skiing though which is why im here.
