Reporter and Crew Shot During Live Broadcast

Two WDBJ7 employees were killed Wednesday morning in an attack at Bridgewater Plaza.

This happened during a live broadcast around 6:45 a.m.

Police are looking for a suspect who apparently opened fire on WDBJ7 photographer Adam Ward and WDBJ7 reporter Alison Parker.

Adam was 27-years-old. Alison just turned 24

This is some seriously fucked up shit. I even heard that it was both the reporter and cameraman's last day on the job.

Someone recorded the segment and put it on liveleak, but I suggest you don't watch. There's no gore, but the reporter's screams will probably be in my head forever.

Videos are up on youtube of the live morning show. That's pretty fucking cold and callous... heard a report from law enforcement saying that the shooter is a disgruntled employee that work(ed) for the station.. confirmation?

The shooter recorded the murder. Put it on youtube, explained on twitter why he shot them. Disgusting.
 
They played the audio on the radio show I was listening to this morning. I wish I would have followed their warning and turned it off until after.

I couldn't imagine being the rest of the news crew seeing that happen and then continue with the broadcast.

that's great and all but hold your fucking tongue and have some respect. How much you "hate" the media will never change the fact that innocent people were killed and their families have to deal with that shit forever now.
 
Honestly as much as people are talking about how horrible it is, people love this shit. That's why people sit in front of the news hoping something horrible happens to excite them.

You can see the excitement pouring through in some people.

This is why I don't watch the news.

As far as watching people getting hurt and doing stupid shit being part of human nature, I liked watching MXC on spike when I was younger. As far as the circle jerk of "OMG OMG OMG did you hear about ________?!?!?!? IT's so horrible. So horrible that I'm stroking myself while posting on facebook, twiter, and texting people regarding it/have conversation material for the next week.

Fuck going into a small town bar after shit like this. It will give people something to talk about for weeks.

Apparently he did this as revenge to the Charleston shooting, so it was basically another hate crime. Guy bought the gun two days after the shooting and carved Alison and Adam's names into the bullets he used. Apparently they used complaints about him when he was working at the studio and he filed a suit against Alison which was dropped. Then the studio fired him because he was too difficult to work with. It's awful how many lunatics there are in the world.

All I have to say about this incident is that we(globally) should be trying to implement effective mental healthcare treatment for people suffering. It should be free as everyone should have the right to be healed mentally and physically. No one in the right mindset will ever kill anyone.

Just to give some people an idea of how ineffective mental health help can be; it can take someone 15 years for a proper diagnosis of being Bipolar.

I'm torn on watching stuff like this. Part of me feels like I should because I should witness how horrific it really was and how despicable these gunmen are and to appreciate the life I still have. But then on the other hand I don't know if its disrespectful to those who passed, or perpetuating that this type of violence gains attention and that begets more violence.
 
Let me guess. Wouldn't have happened if there were armed guards next to the reporters, or if the reporters had guns...

I remember seeing a photo bouncing around years ago of an insurgent who was shot at fairly close range with a 50cal. He was laying on the ground, looked fine except he had a hole in his forehead, The next picture he was rolled over and there was litterally nothing behind his head.

Pretty much agree with you except for that last part. In my town they don't play the news at the bar and people have way more important things to talk about like bluegrass music and elephant jokes.

When will the US start including mental health checks before purchasing fire arms? A full doctors all good before buying a gun. Seriously, the fuck US I needed to get a full health check before I could get a US Visa incase I might give one person ebola. But lets give anyone a fucking gun. Yes, that's so logical!

People need to change their values and start being nicer to each other I personally had to stop posting because I blasted too many people on here both provoked and unprovoked and felt like a real asshole. (Message boards are wonderful things however I learn a lot more from reading them than I do from any media or news source.) Hope it all starts with those on the bottom getting 15 dollars an hour I volunteered to clean up after the Phish festival this weekend theres a lot of people out there working for under 10 bucks an hour before tax its just wrong and really fucked up and that is coming from a self employed entrepreneurial person who embraces capitalism as much as any.

don't get me wrong, I love watching videos of ISIS members getting blown up or shot. However, getting off to videos of 16 year old girls getting beaten to death is a sure sign that those people need the most serious of help. They're going to be the next ones to do this crazy stuff.

So 3 people had ebola in America and all of the US went crazy. Demanding a cure, quarantine, stop vacations to Africa, etc,etc. But just one shooter with a mental illness kills any number of people (go take your pick of mass shooters in the US, there's a long list) and you won't even think about a mental health assesment done before buying any gun. And make it law that if you own a gun to have a mental health check done every x amount of years and if you fail, you get treatment and you also hand back your guns.
