so the forecast is for yet another week of sun, followed by yet another tropical storm with ridiculous freezing levels. Last year, what was the alpine base at this point? yah it was 0cm. And what is it now? hmmm, 0cm. And what did blackcomb open with? yah 2 runs plus the glacier. Obviously I'm hoping that doesnt happen again, but I kinda see a trend starting here.

This year I went to Outdoor school Camp with my grade.My teacher was in a Field talking to his Girlfriend at 11:30 pm, my friend and I were suspicious so we flashed a flaslight in the eyes of my teacher and they were closed. dude,.... do you know anything about weather? Have you checked the extended forecast? Can you not see that there is a huge high pressure system sitting over BC distracting all the storms. Just because its cold doesnt mean anything. Infact this cold weather is purely a result of the high pressure and arctic air mass sitting over BC. Once that disapears, what is forecasted is another Pineapple express storm coming from South America. That means WARM WEATHER AND HIGH FREEZING LEVELS. If you understand what I'm saying at all you should be worried. Who knows, perhaps it could tottally turn around and we could start getting some big storms mixed with an arctive air mass. But as of now, thats tottally not the case.

Yeah, it's a problem, but historically It seems to me shitty seasons are followed by good ones. I have hope...But it needs to rain goddammit! It's cold enuf...colder than last year.

 
It usually happens as one good year, then one bad year.

But I don't want to get my hopes up, and just get let down like last year.

 
No snow on whistler? Blackcomb is slated for an early opening. Grouse has some snow on it now too. I won't count my snow chickens before the hatch but it looks like a good season.

Whistler has snow because they make it. Grouse has snow? I heard 99.3 saying they were making snow up there, but since when does Grouse have snow makers? I know cypress doesn't. Oh well, whatever opens first, I'll ski until other stuff opens. But it's so damn expensive and time consuming to get up to Whistler all the time. I usually just go a couple weekends a year. Hopefully cypress will steal some of their snowmakers, I live right next to it.

yo JD_may Grouse has 100% snow making capabilities. They can create snow for all their runs just with snow makers. even the 'back' runs

dude, you fuckin whiney puss... i skied crystal every weekend for like 10 years and drove 2 and a half hours each way, minimum, to get there. whistler is 5 times the mountain crystal is and its about the same drive for me... how can you complain? unless you dont have a 4x4... in that case never mind.

my sister is working snowmaking up grouse, theyre putting down the hay on the runs and theyre trying to blow snow when it gets cold enough at night, so far its only working a little, 90% of the snow isnt staying, shes been taking courses in meteorology at ubc and in her opinion things dont look good so far. basicly when the precip eventually does come its gonna warm up and rain.

 
And that is the #1 reason why I am moving to whistler.. again. Peace you local suckas

Not only do I not have a 4x4, I DON'T HAVE A $%#@ CAR! University student = broke. It takes forever to get up there... but I'm going to anyways obviously if there's no snow anywhere else.

 
Well the new local weather forecast for the Vancouve area is sounding good

On Monday, a trough of low pressure will move through the area bringing mostly cloudy skies with showers developing. The freezing levels will be too high to consider the possibility of wet snow. In the long range outlook it appears that the week of November 16 to 22 will be wet.

alpine forecast for whistler still sucks though. Too little precipitation, but generally the long range forecast for next week looks good. Cool enough temperatures, and lots of precipitation. Lets just hope that Inverted's sister isnt right.

Take what u can get at this point... hope it doesn't suddenly heat up. It was mighty cold last night (at 11pm), about 30 in yank terms. Think it'll stay cold enuf around here?
