Renting Equipment in Chamonix

I'm going to Chamonix soon, and while it's far from ideal I need to rent skis and boots since bringing my own just wasn't an option. Does anyone have some experience renting freestyle skis/boots in the area? There are so many shops renting equipment, it would be great if someone could point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance.

Are you absolutely sure you can't take your boots?

I have zero familiarity with the region but it may be worth contacting Black Crows to see if they have a demo fleet at their HQ?

Shame that you can’t bring your boots as unless you specifically ask for some touring boots with pin inserts there’s not much variation in the boots your gonna get.

That being said, you can find plenty of rental shops across town with smaller but still reliable shops just outside the town center. Pretty big inter sport slap bang in the middle of town which might have a wider selection of skis and possibly boots.

Check out Awayco. www.awayco.com

Heard about it from a couple of podcasts with Chris Booth who was heavily involved with Black Crows in Chamonix but now is working with Awayco. Sounds like a good way of renting legit equipment.

They have an outlet in Chamonix. If you use them, I’d be interested to hear about the experience.

Yo I’ll be there next weekend if you want to shred! There’s a black crows rental place right next to Chamonix Sud bus station
