Reno Jib Quality Issues?

ATTN anyone with 08/09 Reno Jibs...
How are they holding up? I put three days on mine and it looks like they been through a whole season. The topsheet is chipped and gashed all over the place, my edges have a couple nice sized pits in them, in general they look like hell after three days of fairly light park skiing. I'm by no means someone who abuses skis, which is why I'm shocked at this. They look almost as bad as my old Invaders which went through a whole season and a summer/fall of urban, carpet, and rail jams.
Sick feeling ski, I mean these things fucking rock. I'm just kinda disappointed at the quality. Maybe I'm crazy?

im not expecting great topsheet quality out of these. as soon as i got em i knew they were gonna chip and after one day of just ridin around theres a few chips so once park riding starts im sure they'll get pretty torn. kinda a bummer.

Yeah the topsheet has almost a paper like consistency.
I shot Moment an email about it, mostly because my topsheet seems to be flaking away in some spots. I'd like to see what they're opinion is on this, I don't want it to turn into a delam problem or something like that down the road.

i don't have a pair, but will be skiing my bibbys in a few weeks (not enough snow yet). i'd just like to comment on your observations though. Im not saying that they aren't chipping more than other skis you've had, but things such as chipping and edge dents, etc. have little to do with comparable quality of a ski. I say this because basically all ski companies are using the same raw materials for their product. this is due to very few suppliers; by that i mean like 1 in North America and couple in Europe. Seriously few producers for ski materials. Moment is using PBT plastic topsheets i believe, which (im pretty sure) are a nylon type material and are extremely common throughout the ski industry. I could give brands, but would want to double check, and im too lazy. there may be an issue with the treatment/layup or epoxy of your topsheet, though you will likely notice peeling instead of chipping if this is the case. i would suggest that chipping probably actually indicates a strong bond and good workmanship on the manufacturers part. moment uses 48 rockwell C hardened edges, again an industry standard. I think I have seen one brand that claims to have 52, but am leery as to whether this is a valid claim. they should be just as hard to damage as any other edge. where you may want to call in quality is if the edge comes of the ski, for example (or even if it cracks, because this may be a result of less than optimal dampening placement). I think that you may just perceive the damage as being worse than it is because the skis are new and you still want them to remain pristine. also, any scratches and chips may seem like a huge deal because they stick out against the perfection that is the rest of the ski. perhaps the quick damage will taper off in the next few weeks. it is quite possible that there is some sort of quality issue, i just though i would put this information out there to consider. i just wonder how the aspen/pine cores will hold up and whether they will break or become noodly quickly. only time will tell on that one.

all topsheet skis chip and it is worst when they are new, with new edges.. that aside, i have reno jibs and rockers.. and the rocker topsheet did seem to chip a fair bit. I think filing down the edges where the topsheet meets the sidewall. that angle on the jibs is a very sharp one , almost 90 degrees. I think filing down that edge might help the problem. I'll pm someone about it.

was just sayin they chip, didnt say anymore then any other skis. i just hope they hold up better then the invaders i had cause holy tits did they fuckin suck in quality. companys should take some notes from head cause i know for a fact at least their old topsheets were the strongest in the industry. i hardly ever saw a chip or scratch on the old mojo's and mad trix..

I have had my Rockers out a few days and topsheet chipping has actually been less than other skis I've owned. I haven't been doing any intense park or anything but a good amount of rails...

the mad trix were a super rare ski to last so long without breaking, it prolly had something to do with the weight or stiffnes of them.

mine have like 40ish days on them and they're fine. sure a little chipping but not really much.

Ya I have two pairs of reno jibs, and rockers as well and the chipping really is determined by how you ski. I mean mine hold up fine but i never cross my skis/do mute grabs etc. People that do mutes alot reaaaaaalllllyyyy chip up the skies. But mine wear just like any other ski ive been on. They are way better than my Rossignols i used to have.
