So I have an hv30 ntsc and shoot in HDV and when I hook up to camera directly to my TV the quality is perfect (got a 32' LG HD ready - 720p). But when I put the images onto my computer I can't seem to capture and then render them so that I can watch them in the same quality. I norrmaly watch things on my TV through my computer via HDMI cable. My computer dosen't have a problem playing 1080p (40gig) movies, so i'm guessing the problem is not from there.

So my question is, what preferences must I use in order to capture and render the video in Sony Vegas Pro 9.0 so that I can play my edits from my computer at 720p, also for 1080

I have a Canon HF10 and i use Vegas 8. For rendering go to File>Render then you can choose how much you compress the video. Not sure if that answers your question.

Not really, I know how to render it. I just wanted to know what settings people use to keep it at minimum 720p

I have a HV30 and capture in HD30 settings, it seems to be the best quality, when i did it in other setting for some reason it would have way worse quality. Not sure if this will fix your problem, but its something to try, and I have final cut instead so idk if its the same...hope this helps somehow
