the edges on my skis are almost non-existant from rails. and im afraid the whole edge might rip out. could i cut like 6 inches out from the botton of the ski and still have good performance in the ski?

yeah I did the same thing to my Concepts this year. My edge was torn out right from under my foot for about 6 inches. I just tore it right out and I just use them for rock skiing and doing rails, but performance wise they suck. Your going to need a new pair of skis. The ski always wants to turn some other direction.

I would never take out an edge. Sliding rails fucks up skis, you just have to deal with it.

Why would you want to take your edge off. Edges are very important. Just ski with the edge on, and then probobly get new skis.

how would you put new edges in your skis? i didnt know this was possible

Replacing an edge can be done, but imho it turns the ski into a pair of rock hoppers, or urban assaulters. Dont expect to go racing on a replaced edge, aint gonna happen.

Ive heard from a few people that taking the edge out of your skis isnt too bad...Ive heard from many more people (including ski techs) that this is not good at all (makes sense). I just blew out my edge and took it in to get fixed, just fix it or buy new skis.

edges should only be replaced if they really really need to be replaced, i.e. if they are half torn out already.

did it to my old darksides and they are now completely ruined, i cant even ski them anymore. and they are worse on rails cause you dont have much control of what your skis do on the rail, if that reallynse, they kind of slide around on the surface and you never really feel that you lock in. and you cant skate into anything for speed because the way that they are made, the edge catches and side cut gives a little bit of spring, and since the middle of the ski never locks on, you cant pick up any speed. DO NOT DO THIS, you will regret it, even if they are for just rails. Also they are completly useless trying to ski anywhere just hazzardous.

this is why i have 2 sets of skis, 1 for rails and the other for pipe, park and freeriding!
