Remove snowboarding

I think the snowboarding scene should be removed from Newschoolers, I don't want to sound like a downer but in the words of Charlie ager snowboarding "is for posers". I just think that ns should be a skiing exclusive website. So like no forum or options to ID yourself as a snowboarder.

Snowboarding is just another style of skiing. You only need one ski to ski. It's all just skiing no matter how many boards you ride.

Dude, why? You really want to separate yourself from your fellow brethren? The ski v snowboard thing is over, grow up.

The reality is though, I judge people for snowboarding because I know they don't tour and I know they can only get so far along on the traverse out of the backcountry gate. It's not like I judge them personally I just tell them to buy a split board and don't invite them to the mountain when I'm going if it would fuck my day up.

unless you're a jerry.

in my experience, the only people whining about the other sport are shitty riders who are intimidated. and then they talk about how much easier tricks are on snowboards/skis, or how the other guys are always getting in the way.

there are loads of shitty skiers and loads of shitty snowboarders. noobs are what keep the industry afloat.

Dude some of my favorite friends to shred with here at squaw are boarders....if they are willing to put in work there is nothing wrong with it.

I do agree with gaper boarders can slow you down on traverses...but same with skiers so I'm not really sure what you are getting at with that.

Mostly because you can't climb without unstrapping so if there is any gain in the traverse they can't do it without walking and post holing up the traverse.

tbh I think it would be rad if there were more snowboarders on NS, and if they posted their content here. I pretty much have no idea whats going on in snowboarding except for yobeat and they have to approve any videos you submit to the site which is kinda lame.

Go follow transworld, Snowboarder, King Snow, on FB and IG and you'll pretty much see all the good snowboarding content you need to see. For sure they have to approve videos but they post quite a lot of stuff.

And I dont't think here's any interest for a snowboarder to post on a skiing website. I also doubt that snowboarders watch skiing

If you're referring to Snowboard gabber, that was an April fools joke a bunch of years ago where we thought the joke would be funniest if we just left it up.

Keep in mind that if it weren't for snowboarding, freestyle skiing would not be where it is at today, or even close to where it is.....

Without skiing, there wouldn't be snowboarding.

snowboarding was created to emulate surfing in the winter time.

elaborate.

The main reason snowboarding was invented was because surfers wanted something to do in the winter, hence the original "snowboards" being called "snurfers" (snow surfers). (I realize you said that, but I'm elaborating) Skateboarders doing tricks such as grinds and spins inspired snowboarders to do tricks, and to build terrain parks, which were originally dedicated to snowboarders. Skiers were then like "Hey, this is cool, we want in on it.", similar to how snowboarders wanted to be let into ski resorts in the early days of the sport.
