Remounting skis

so i just got my bindings warrientied after breaking and a got a new set today. can i put my new bindings in the same holes as my old bindings. they are exactly the same binding, fin the holes perfect, and my old bindings didnt get ripped out of the ski(so the grooves from the origanil screws are still good). Can i remount them? or do i need to put ptex in the holes and rescrew? or just through some glue in there?

i almost did that once, but i decided just to take them to the shop cuz i knew i would mess them up.

yeah i just dont want to pay the shop 40 dollars...it would mean im not going to get to eat for the next week.

same thing just happened to me, the shop guys all looked at me like i had 3 heads when i came in like they had never seen twintips b4, but neways, apparently they can get ripped right back out of the holes they were in, they said that but i ripped the heel of my binding out after the plastic snapped so idk what you did to break yours but, i would suggest the ptex then new holes like 2 back. your call though.

should probably helicoil so they stay in there so it's as stong as it was before, glue is good too..

let a shop do it

Heli-coil is a good idea. If you are not too mechanical try some epoxy and put em back in the same holes. There is a fine point of torque though, not too much, not too little. Depending on the shop, that is probably what they will do anyway.

I have done this a few times. You could use the same holes, but if you have a drill, it isn't that hard to line up the holes if you take apart part of the binding, then mark the holes with a sharpie. Drill it with a very small drill bit. It would also help to put a little wood glue or something similar as well. Just mount them 1 or 2 cm back from their usual point. I had a binding pop off (shop mounted) right before a rail jam, I went to the shop and they basically did what I just told you in 10 min and the binding is still on, they are my rock / shitty day set up now, but the binding is still on.

Like I said, I have done this a few times, and the times I didn't redrill, they came out after 4 or 5 days of riding, but they were warped in the first place so it took some trial and error to firgure out the glue and drilling. I also work at a shop, but not in the tuning department. They do pretty much what I just said, but there is a clamp they use to line up the bindings, and a machine to test them which is pretty much worthless because most people crank the dins as soon as they get on the hill. Let me know if you have any questions, I hope it works. Shops are getting out of hand with mounting fees, mine charges 75 now if you didn't buy it at the shop.

^ holy fuck 75 bucks?? we charge 10 for a binding adjustment and 15 for a remount and i would say put some new holes in just to be on the safe side

So they should - tech work is one of the only things that people can't buy for cheaper on the net..therefore take advantage of it and charge for it (plus there is obviously the labour cost of the tech guy)..shops are getting fucked by the cheaper pries on the net, therefore this is something which they need to do.
