Remounting skis????

Remounting skis, if i have 2 of the same binding can i just swap them using the same holes? the mounting patterns are the same but i just dont know if you can do that...

Thanks in advance

dont think isnt making me any more sure about this lol

i guess im looking for some one who has done this and thinks its ligit...

thanks

just hav a shop do it, i like to do everything my self, but they they have special glue and stuff to thread holes and and stuff, and its not worth damaging the ski

I swtiched a set of Rossi Axial something or others for P14's on a pair of 1080's once. Rode them hard for a full season, like 80+ days and they held up fine. Just unscrewed one and screwed the other back in. If they did break or pull out then I would have had no one to blame but myself....

the skis are 07 4frnt stl's and they are the shittiest ski made and i want to put shitty binding on em so i can get new skis and use the good bindings on them...pretty much sums it up i guess im goign to go for it

4FRNTS are the worst skis made this is the second pair ive had problems with

thanks

Clearly no-one in this thread has ever done it. Really guys, you shouldn't give advice on something you know nothign about.

I have done this many times for customers and once on my own skis. If you take the bindings off and put the new ones on carefully there is absolutely no problem is reusing the holes. I put a Salomon back on some 00/01 Line Skogens with normal binding glue (this is back when Line's quality was absolutely horrible) and they held up to a whole hell of abuse as my beater jib skis. Take them to a good shop and they'll do it.

the glue has little to nothing to do with holding the bindings onto the skis, all it is really there for is for use as a waterproofing device for the holes into the core.

but yes, most shops just use wood glue, where as some use just a sealant

oh and sorry about the double post, but I can say with utter certainty that remounting a different pair of bindings into the same holes is a common practice among shop techs.

Yes it is possible for your binding to fit in the existing holes..

but as they all said it HORRIBLY weakens the threads in the holes..

so since the 4ftrnts you have now have a really soft core there is about a 110% chance its going to happen again..try and remount them like a drill bit hole lenth away on both and not in the same holes and try to tighten to like 3nm and not 4nm (newtonmeters)so you dont strip them again..

and the glue you would want to use is any non-water based glue... snow=water

thats most likey what i would do in your situation..
