Remember when you used to think NS was legit?

I was on here for a short time in the golden age, never had an account or posted though/claimthen I made my account about 2 years later in 2007
 
The only real difference is members used to join and most people would have some sort of good input, mostly being a thread of the witty or funny type. Most new members skip this and just post and post and post, never really putting any effort into making funny threads. It seems like everything nowadays turns into an argument instead of staying as just the luls. Once you filter out the senseless and annoying posts. there is still NS gold to be found.

Golden goggles on... Definitely not "most" members... that never happened. Think of all the shitshows and hate.

Honestly, there is something that NS didn't have back then too much, and neither did the whole Internet: hardcore trolling. Nowadays it's getting almost too much and there isn't too much effort put in just to troll trolls trolling for trolls by Troll's Against Trolling For Trolling's Sake Ltd.

the reason there are less good multi page threads is because:

1. inb4 epic thread (which creates opposite affect)

2. dumb memes that they copy (most arnt funny)

3. Trolling is dumb (alias were legit)

4.half the people in the thread are just there to say "threads"

5. Everyone is a sheep and will go off of whatever the first post says

6. They get moved to the donators forum
 
I really wish I knew the password to my old account. That was the lolz. 2004 when I was too scared to post anything because I looked up to anyone in the ski industry.

I remember the first time I came to this site, I didn't really understand it, went to the picture section, and there was a picture of Jon Olsson with his D out in a bathtub.

I then left and came back and made an account in 2009. Does anyone remember that picture?

It's burned into my memory.

What's funny is people were bitching about how shitty NS became even like 5+ years ago. It never gets old. Although I do miss the occasional I-am-so-above-you-all-I-have-to-make-a-goodbye thread (Wester really comes to mind, that bitch)

i specifically remember NS starting to go downhill after they changed the color of signatures to separate it from their posts.
 
need an og forum that requires you to have been a member for minimum of 5 years. would easily be the best forum on ns.
 
Pretty much. At least back then it was generally down to Earth types and Canadians joking about poop and general on-hill sillyness. Now it's nothing but a bunch of illiterate, rich, white kids who are overly concerned with sponsors, clothing, and pretty much every facet of "skiing" that has absolutely nothing to do with actually skiing.

it's bound to change...ive been reading since 07 and it's amazing how many people have joined.it just shows that freeskiing is growing! and thats a good and bad thing at the same time
 
i'm not one to talk considering i joined less than a year ago, but still i wanna say a few things. first off, i do recognize the lack of long, entertaining threads, and imagining a time when there were more makes me wanna go back and read. the "1st", "threads", and bitching posts are really annoying, and overall NS has become very, very sarcastic. Sometimes its funny but other times it gets in the way of people saying what they want to say. Over the last like 3 weeks i've seen so many threads made by 3 post, 0 karma members and it really pisses me off. a good portion of the threads have been completely pointless threads, troll threads or simple questions that the search bar can answer. i don't know how to solve that problem but i think it could make ns better than it already is.

that said, i love NS, it has helped me a lot and brought many lulz as well, but new members need to learn to keep their mouth shut for the first week of membership and just read. i think that would benefit them a lot, and answer 90 percent of their questions.

I've lurked since like 05 or 06. I didn't make an account until sometime in 07.

I dont think much has changed at all. It's just a matter of getting older.
 
In the first year I joined, someone made a thread about his friend who was filming them or something.

Basically the kid found a bunch of footage between shots that was just his friend saying really realllllly gay shit to the camera and it was fucking hilarious. He edited the footage and threw it up onto youtube.

Anyone remember that video/know where it is?
