and on the open mind thing, i do try too. when something comes up to challenge my faith, i look to scriptures and others to see what its about. i listen to everyone, and i draw my own conclusions. what i believe, as a Christian, i am not sure of 100% all the way, thats where faith comes in. i don't even consider my faith any big ol honkin thing, its small compared to some i kow. this leads me to alot of doubt. but to me, evrytinhg that we have talked about has been proven wrong in my eyes, through objective analasys, debate, reading and logic. that you believe i have been proven wrong and that you have been proven right, im sure you have studied things criticaly, and if when confronted with arguments against your views you hold to them and analyse your beliefs in the same way i do, through objective analasys, debate, reading and logic, then all the power to you, and bravo in your faith aswell.

im pooped on the matter for one day. i do keep an opened mind, and an internet discussion on something i believe i know enough to stand strong to my beliefs can't really portray that.

in my mind the most increadable proff for evolution is embryology. Why is that that all of us grow gills in the womb only to later lose them for our ears? If we were created why wouldnt we just grow ears first? why the redundancy? Why is it that in the early stages of justation a chicken, pig and human all loook identical. Then at a later stage, the chicken begins to look diffrent but the human and pig still look the same, then the pig takes on its own charastics, and leves the human to look diffrent. did you know that pigs also grow gills in the womb? why? for me this is the biggest proff of evolution, and it comes straight from out DNA.

but are the 'gills' we see as caracteristics of Chordates actually something that shows that shows thatw e came from the same animal, or something that becomes the equivalent organs in each animal. that we look the same as other species is very possible at certain times in life, because these animals you speak of have the same kind of reproduction. redunduncy withink species that reproduce the same way is very likely. this doesn't prove anything later on.

but im no scholar. 15, IB program in sweden, i don't know all or think i do, i can't come up with an argument or counter argument for everyting without making up and not being sure of what i am saying (which will ultimately turn me into a dumbass). ask a confirmed christian interested in evolution if you really need mature views.

As far as I'm concerned, we will never be able to prove or disprove religion because it is so ambiguous. It would make perfect sense that God would program evolution into his creation in order to create diversity without him having to control it. (That's right, I just said God is lazy too.)Aswell as to allow us to adapt to and ever changing world. Any ways, I'm not religious but I believe in higher powers because it's nice to feel nurtured and to be able to have hope and something to believe in.

I have a relationship with Christ, and I have faith that I'll inheirit eternal life. I'm not gonna bash anyone because that's not the way I feel I should handle myself, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I do feel that it gives my life some hope though, because I can't imagine living without any hope that this life is something more than just living.

this is an eternal discussion, its like to be or not to be, but its good to see what ppl's opinions are. I personally think that I'm not religious primarily because I have not been raised in a religious environement at all, but thats why I respect religious people, because religion is a tradition that has gained an important part in human's lives, and that anyone can believe in spirituality, as long as it stays personal, otherwise it only creates trouble.

ya i think God and stuff are made up to have an easy but unlogical answer to questions. I go to a catholic school, but i am agnostic. i rEally belive in science. in a class, we were talking about health, theres like physical, emtional, menatl and spiritual health. i thought to myslef, 'im not to spiriually healthy' but then i realized being religious isnt the only way the be spiritual. im not like a yoga tree hugger or anything but i find my spiritual satisfaction in nature. like when im standing at the top of a mountain, i feel great!! or listening to birds sing at my cabin.

I'd just like to point out that just because you believe in religion in no way means that you do not believe in evolution. In case you haven't noticed, Christianity is not the only religion out there. Therefore, many religions exist which accomodate spirituality and science.

religion has no place in my life. i'm a self-relient person. i don't believe that a high power has my entire life planned out for me. i believe i have control of things, and if i suceed, it's because i worked hard, or if i fail, it's because i'm an idiot. i don't believe in any of that 'oh, well it's was gods will' type bullshit. and people might ask 'well what are you're believes on how the world started? or how it will end?'. who cares... we're here, and that's what matters, and i don't need to worry about the end of the world because i'm going to be dead long before anything drastic happens.

now i'm not saying i don't believe in god, or i don't believe some things in life happen for a reason, i'm just saying that i have control over my life, and i don't rely on a higher power to make things happen.
