Reliable dog booties for touring

I know a few of you guys take your four-legged buddies touring. I'm on the hunt for a pair of dog booties. Requirements are:

1) Actually stay on the dog's paws. Every set I've used in the past tend to fall off his back paws almost immediately, no matter how I set the straps

2) Fairly grippy. He's good about following behind me on the skin track, but certain steep or icy sections can get a little tricky and I've found that a standard pair of running booties usually uses a hard rubber that doesn't grip well on snow

Obviously the number one priority is finding one that fits well. He is a husky-german shepard mix, so fairly large paws but not exceptionally huge. Shorter tours haven't given him issues going without booties, but on some of my longer outings I've noticed he'll seek refuge on a rock or downed tree to give his paws a break from the cold.

Not that I expect it here, but please don't give me the "don't take your dog touring" spiel. I only take him out when I'm solo or with friends who are ok with it, and only on very low-danger days

Ive honestly never heard of someone doing this, probably not very common tbh. Probably why your not getting any reply's. Try a pet forum (serious) they will probably know more.

never heard of anyone bringing their dog touring, or wearing booties? because i personally know quite a few people who tour with their dogs

also the AT forum is one of the least-visited on ns. i wasn't expecting a huge discussion overnight

Bringing dogs touring is what i meant. I have 2 dogs and have booties for them. There small though so they wouldnt be able to walk in deep snow lol just sink like rocks.

Yeah..... no.

So far I've skied with more dogs than people this year. Dogs are great for some sorts of touring.

Sorry Treebeard, no personal experience, but I'll ask some of my dog-toting friends and try to get a better idea. I know a few that do fine without booties, but those are usually shorter tours, maybe 4 hours car to car.

Dude plenty of people take their dogs out with touring with them .. I only want a dog that'll be able to go out with me in the snow, little dogs are useless

They are my mom's dogs and I would have to agree that they are useless except that they bring happiness and joy just like any other dog would.

That's pretty cool cydwhit I didn't realize it was that common.

I posted this question on reddit yesterday too, and someone told me abouthttp://musherssecret.net/

seems like it's pretty much the same concept as snoseal, but made for paws. so i'll probably give that a try and see how it goes, but definitely open to other suggestions if your friends have a product they like

awesome video loopie, thanks for sharing

There is a dude that posts on TAY that posts videos of tours with a little dog. Seems like the dog follows him most of the time when he skins and then he rides in a harness on the guys chest when he skis. Seems almost better than taking along a big dog because he doesn't have to worry losing the dog on the down hill or having to climb back up to get the dog if the dog doesn't want to go down something.
