REI Wont bend 75mm pivot brakes on wets??!

Am I slow?? I have seen a million 75mm mounts on wets (IRL)

-Any advice on how to proceed? Im pretty frustrated, but I understand that a 95mm brake is the "normal" brake size, and that shops have there limits for bending brakes.

Why are you mounting at REI? I don't understand. Just take them somewhere else or DIY. They have corporate rules and stuff at REI, it's not up to the tech.

I have limited options in NY close by me, I knew I was going to see a comment like yours, and No I don't have the time to mount myself currently.

Doesn't surprise me that a chain like REI doesn't wanna mount 75mm brakes on an ~88mm ski. Best of luck finding 95's or a shop that's willing to bend them.

Hey man just bend them yourself before brining them in, bend them to the right size and then just bring them in

It's about an hour of time to do yourself if you take time to measure well

You had to plenty of time, The time it took you to go to rei, get rejected and make this post was more than enough time to mount them.

Now you may just not want to mount them yourself. That’s a different story.

I wasn't trying to hate, sorry. There haven't been too many lately but fucked up mounts coming out of REI were a theme here for a while.

There must be an actual ski shop somewhere? Where are you in NY?

honestly the majority of people on this site are mid 20s or later with 9-5s and way less time than the "classes" your daddy is paying for lmao

it takes 30 seconds to bend some brakes, and 20 minutes to mount some skis. Stop being a lazy ass

Fuck yeah I am

Weird...probably depends on the REI. stick to your guns with the 75mm brakes. The one mount ive ever gotten done from REI were 85 attacks on a 90ish ski and tbh they were way too small but REI still bent them without a word said.

75 pivots absolutely fit wets- its the norm here that 95 pivots fit comfortably up to a 108 (i have 95s on my wildcats).

Moment recommends 115 on the 108 cat. Deathwish 104 is the largest they’ll sell 95’s for typically. They’re tight on my 99 blades. Wouldn’t have wanted to stuff my 108 in a 95. 115 is perfect.

How I made the decision to put 95s on-

Here are mine. No bending, no issues at all.

I did, they wouldn't comply, I can try to bend myself once I get them back etc

if you have access to a vice or clamp its takes like 10 mins to bend brakes. you just clamp down one side at a time and either hammer or just pull on the other other side until it bends.

That’s not at all how you properly bend pivot brakes. Unless you’re just trying to snap them faster than usual.

you want to use a hollow pole like a broken ski pole, or a piece of pvc pipe and slide that over the brake. Slowly bending them straight at the original bend point then re bending the same way in whatever spot you need.

yea nevermind ive never bent pivot brakes. hollow tube for leverage is def safer than a hammer. bent attack brakes that way before but maybe not the smartest thing to do.

I've mounted probably 40-50 pairs of wets in the shop and have never seen one single pair with 75mm pivot brakes or been asked to bend a pair. 95mm works plenty fine, and if you're tangling those up it's probably not the binding/brakes fault....

If you need to order 95mm baseplates though, lemme know I'll cut ya a deal.

I've got 95mm pivot brakes on some 106 underfoot skis and am going to have them put on 110's. They are already hella bent. I know that 115 would be perfect but should I just send it?

just because I’M unemployed, ski everyday, and live in SLC off of mommy’s credit card, doesn’t mean most of the people here are…

NS is full of legit people with legit careers who are hardworking and don’t come from absurd privileged.

It takes longer to make a thread on ns than it does to bend a pivot brake…

please shut up.
