Want to be the first to try out the regional forums? Keep reading.

The forums are now considered BETA. What this means is that they are believe to be fully functional, but some small features have not yet been added. There may also be some bugs, which is where you come in. Try it out, see what you think. If you find something that doesn't work, let me know. If there's something you don't like, let me know.

The MyThreads feature is not yet enabled in the regional forums. Other than that, they're pretty good to go.

hhmm ontario is pretty big, why not a north/south ontario instead of ottawa/montreal?

If you try doing the way you're doing it now it will take forever and there will always be arguments...I think you should lay off the specifics and get more general, ie: for the US do either individual states or like this: North West, Midwest, South West, North East, etc...

As for Canada, just do provinces and Europe do countrys and Aus/NZ as one...

If people really want to talk about an event or something or just people in oregon then the thread they make should specify that...

This will also look a lot more professional, plus, like I said, breaking places up like the current way will lead to nonstop confusion and arguments.

when I try to use the quicklinks in the regional forums, I get one of those annoying mysql errors.

i agree that with erich. people will complain 'how come our state doesn't have its own forum section????' i think it should kinda be like this

US

Northwest

Washington

Oregon

Idaho

Mid-West

ect....

but maybe so that the list isn't too big make it so just the Northwest part shows up and you have to click on it to see the different states. I also noticed that if you post something in the state part of the forum it shows up under the US section also. this kinda seems stupid to me. just what i think though

Harvey - looks sweet...but for europe, what happened to the UK? no england, scotland, wales, ireland... i cant be the only member from the UK surely man...

 
also just tried the quick links they bombed on me. Also with europe, dunno if you need to or not, but you kinda missed out italy and germany. be careful the germans will be well pissed at that....;)haha!

Yo Harvey breakdown europe like into these groupings

uk (england, scotland, wales, ireland)

france/spain (cos the pyrenees borders the too, they aint only got the alps)

switzerland/germany

austria/italy

you already had scandinavia sorted, just maybe add in denmark..

you may want to put BeNeLux in with the uk as none of us have proper mtns (benelux=belguim, netherlands, luxembourg)

problem at the moment is freeskiing or whatever you all want to class it as, isnt quite as big as north america yet. But put them all in (if you can) cos from what i see here in london, and over in the alps this summer, it gonna start catching up real quick.

we ahyd like a bunch more summer camps, the manafacturers are supporting it in europe more, we just got new europe wide magazine kinda like a mix of freeskier, powder, and freeze called 2 (check the website - 2freeski.com) and just in general there seems to be a bit more respect from the ski public to freeskiing, instead of them wanting to solely bash gates all day long...

When it goes up, the link headings should be specifically different... for example...

USA (maybe a big font)

indentindent>Northwest

indendindentindent>Idaho

wait, I just got a really good idea... instead of listing all the places down, you should have a big map, like how the Locations page used to be... and the sections would be defined on the map. All you'd have to do is click on which region you wanted to go to...

For example, the main page would be a big map of Canada/US, with all of the states/provinces outlined lightly and the forum regions defined in a bold, dark line... and off to the side there could be links, 'All USA' and 'All Canada.'

Then you could have links to a map of Europe...

Yeah I was thinking of doing that, but I can't find a pretty map! If anyone knows of some good ones that I can use, let me know.

I see what you're saying, What, but you gotta admit that probably 98% of all members are from North America... if the map was a world map it would have to be huge, or it would have to link to a more specific map once you clicked on it. Making it north america is the most sound thing to do, and of course there will be forums and probably a map for Europe, south america, etc.

i spose a america map is fine, just as long as it is heaps easy to get to the world section from there

i donno if this will be too much work for nothing, but you could have a world map and be able to zoom in on where you wanna go. so if you zoom in on north america itll take you to a different page with a north american map. then you could zoom in on a location like bc and itll take you to a page with places listed like vancouver/whistler, interior, etc. understand?
