Regional food fads

I've noticed that around the country areas have certain food fads, or even a learned thing that they do to their food i.e. putting tons of ketchup on things, mayo on fries, tabasco, etc.

What are some food things that your region likes?

actually this might sound weird, but I looked it up and they're canned in the U.S., canada, turkey, and some other countries. But I live in Michigan and we border with canada so i think we get our arizonas from michigan because i've always read that its a product of canada on the cans

Nova scotia boy?

id say rice. its trendy cheap and you can survive off of it for months at a time.

Food companys normally cater specific flavors to specific regions. IE, I went to woodward east and kids from maryland had Crab flavored chips

Anytime I make a grilled cheese and have bread and butter pickles I throw em in. No other pick will do - gotta be the ol' b&b. It isn't very popular in Maine though. I just picked it up from my dad. I get a lot of weird looks/comments when I do it in public.

Here in Ohio, Cincinnati specifically, we like pasta with chili and cheese. Also chili cheese coneys are huge here too.

Yeah but they only carry the 3 basic flavors, lemon, green, and raspberry. What if I want an RX Energy or peach arnold palmer? And no one has Peace Tea. Peace Tea is the shit

the circle K 2 blocks from me has it all. But all of the grocery stores only have green tea and Arnold Palmer. I drink wayyyy too much tea.

so far none of these except the kid who mentioned skyline chili, or possibly the crab chips, are regional foods, they're all pretty wide spread, and nothing is a trend/fad, except kale, which has definitely gotten huge over the last two years.

regional food fad.

cronuts. except it's national now, not just regional.

ramps in new york are a regional trend.

Yea i think thats a big city/yuppie/hippie thing. When i went to DC they served kale exclusively at some places. Not saying its bad though, i like it

I think most of you missed the point of this thread. In other news I wish there was an In N' Out in chicago.
