Regarding Repost Claims...

NSG is getting ridiculous. The first response to 90% of threads is along the lines of, "ZOMFG REPOST OMG U SO NUB." Is it really that big of a deal? When NS was revamped, promises were made that if you are going to claim repost, at least include links to the original threads. You shouldn't have to add 'hope this isnt repost', as a premeptive to the shit storm of pissed off 15-year-olds. So, if your going to claim a repost, do the responsible thing, and post links. Or just STFU, because no one really cares.

doublexl OUT!

repost.

hehehe jokes aside, i agree 100%. i remember some guy claiming might be repost... like what the fuck? either it is or not, there are no maybe's fuck.

Agreed. Pisses me the fuck off when links aren't provided. I hate repost callouts, but there should be a link provided.

Claiming repost is an internet forum thing. There is little we can do about it but ignore it.

We will delete threads if they are blatant reposts though; ie- "Fuck WME" type threads.

why provide a link when the problem is is that they didnt searchbar in the first place? you tell em searchbar, then they go out and practice it

I agree but sometimes the thread just deserves a repost callout. EX: what skis does tom wallisch ride?

there are good reposts and bad reposts.

good: an edit i havent seen for a while, an edit from a while back, ect.

bad: OMG WHO LIED ABOUT THE BURTON HYPHY SITCKZ

This is one of the few issues on NS that has existed since at least 2002, and I think what it comes down to is that the search function has never been revamped (with the brief exception of the google search). If I want to make a thread about Tom Wallisch on Scott, and as a good NSer I do a quick search for Tom Wallisch Scott or TWall Scott, I get no results. If I do a search for Tom Wallisch, or TWall, I get the 50 most recent threads, none of which are relevant. A search for Scott doesn't turn anything relevant up either, so I now know that nobody has ever made a thread about Tom Wallisch signing with Scott.

It's not that people don't try to prevent reposting (considering how many threads start with "Sorry if this is a repost, I searchbarred"). But for "part-time" or new NSers who don't read every single thread on NS all the time, the searchbar is fairly useless tool for them to prevent their reposts. It's also pretty useless for NSers who are trying to provide links in reposted threads if the original thread can't be found. Reposts are going to always exist on any large internet forum, but if NS had even a few more search options (search without exact phrasing, search posts, more than 50 results, etc), we would have many fewer reposts.

im gonna agree with the consensus of this thread that the searchbar needs to have options such as "not all the words" and "not exact phrase"

and while its not related to reposts, we need new searchbars for pics and vid. Its so hard to find the right video, and you have to refresh at every search
