Reduce risk of ACL tearing

Over the last seasons I've seen ACL's torn left and right. Luckily somehow I've never fuckd up my knees myself. Still it got me scared seeing all people I shred with tearing their ACL's. It got me thinking if their is a way to reduce the risk. (lowering my din isn't negotiable ^^) Do you have any exercieses you could recommend me which I could do before the winter to keep my knees safer trough next season?

Do excersizes to strengthen all your leg muscles. Stretch and become more flexible. I also have heard that skiing/landing switch has a lower impact on the knees

Get a good Yoga DVD and try to do it every morning. The Rodney Yee Yoga for Beginners and AM Yoga are really good. Yoga is probably the best injury prevention exercise you can do and almost all the Pros do it.

Also, power cleans are really good for getting your core in shape and your legs strong. If you think, landing a booter and doing a power clean are a lot of the same mechanics.

More skiing. It’s basic math. The more days you ski / the number of days you wreck yourself. Ski more and don’t fuck up.

Yep, picture how much more strain there is, since your knees are the fulcrum for the rest of your body staying up.

Isn’t wheelie-ing out your backseat landings hard on your knees instead of just taking the fall?

other activities like trail running/hiking, soccer, pilates or whatever should help strengthen the important parts of your leg for this. definitely doesn't hurt

also don't try to hold onto backseat landings that are rough, those seem to commonly be the thing that pops knees

Ragdoll when you fall and dont try to keep yourself up. Obviously easier said than done, but its way better to break a bone than tear/stretch/strain a ligament trying to keep yourself rigid.

I imagine Pivots or FKS help for when you land sideways.

edit: Nvm I just searched it pivots & fks don’t help acl don’t listen to me

Your butt and hamstrings are the main support. Bulk them up.

Thx for your helpful advices. I'll work on strenghten my legs and add those extra 180s to avoid landing forward. Wish you all an awesome injury free season.

Its a proven fact that your not a good skier until you tear your ACL. I've done it twice, second one while laying in the hospital after surgery I got at least 6 sponsorship offers.
