I am grown up, I like shooting guns, and I need a new hobby.

I want something small and easy so I figured I'd be a sally and get a .22 rifle. I want a bolt action with a magazine to shoot quicker.

What can I get thats cheap, good for a beginner and good quality.

I'm comfortable with a few types of firearms but you gotta start somewhere.

Any good help=++++K

Thanks

there arent really guns made for beginners or experts etc., just buy a good quality gun (i have a remington) and you will be fine. but yes, definitely talk to someone at a gun store

hahhahahaa, .22's are for shooting squrrells only. I have a Marlin Model 60, 18 round tube mag, tac grip(and a synth stock XD)and shoots straight as an arrow(like pretty much any gun lawl) that shit is good for fucking up squrrels. No real reason to get a bolt action if you want speed...they're slower and not really any advantage. Also, get some CCI minimags, I think they fire at like 1500 fps and totally RAPE crows.

Or just amp up to a .270 Winchester if you want a great versatile cartridge. I have a Remington 7600 weathermaster. Looks so sick, and rapes Deer. Nice thing about the .270 is it drives a 130 grain bullet at like 3100 fps I think.

As nice as those may shoot..they're Japanese made. IIRC they're made in the same factory that the Citori is. My grandpa bought my Dad a Benelli Montfeltro which I have had the pleasure to shoot. That thing rapes any double, unless it's an H&H.

benellis are world class obviously (just did a quick search for dubs) and i didn't really know anything about hollands making doubles. then again im not too heavy into the whole scene.

Holland and Holland RAPES every other gun manufacturer EVER. It's like 45,000 dollars for a 470. Nitro Express and like 125 dollars a cartridge. It's like what old English fuckers use to hunt lions and elephants and shit.

You will get bored with the .22 fast. Sack up and get a .22WMR or a .243, ammo is plentiful for both so they are both relatively cheap. Marlin and Remington make some great .22mag models both semi auto and bolt action. I've got a Marlin bolt action and it is crazy accurate up to about 200 yards. Your max range would be about 300 yards with the .22WMR. My buddy shoots a .22-250 and loves it. Its deadly accurate and he gets about 500-600 yards out of it on a bench. Different bullet than the .223 but same ballistics.

The 250 shoots the exact same bullet its just a lot faster than a .223. But if yer lookin for a good gun for a beginner check out a .22 WRM or a .17 HMR. If you want a .22lr, go with a 10/22.

i have alot more fun with my shotguns then i do my rifles, as i dont have a long enough range to really let the rifles do their thing.
so if ur just getting into it, depending on what u want to do with it of course, id look into getting a nice pump shotgun

This. Shotguns are great to drink beer and shoot clays with. Ammo is cheap and you can sometimes pick one up pretty cheap from a pawn shop. They are also much more satisfying to shoot.

Shooting a .22 at 200 yards is not even shooting anymore. It's lobbing the bullet.

Just sack up and get a .444 Marlin

That thing'll pick up a deer and flip it on it's side.

Dude buy a FAMAS you get it right away and after 25 kills you get the red dot works great for me.... ;)

get a winchester 30-30. so much fun to shoot, not really super burly or intimidating to fire either. plus you'll feel just like a cowboy.

.22's are all you'll need for target practice. unless you want to go hunting or something, in which case i'd suggest getting a shotty (so you can hunt deer and fowl and the like).

and the advantage of bolt action is they are a lot safer and a lot less likely to break/jam etc.

Bolt action isn't really any safer, and that Marlin I have hasn't jammed in the 6500+ rounds I've fired from it.
I went through 3 500 round boxes of CCI mag's last labor day weekend.

Try doing THAT with a bolt action.

i'd check out the ruger 10/22 its a rifle for life. also ill invite you to the gun cults, you'll find mostly hate out here.

go with a 4 10. fucking fun ass gun to shoot. its like a double barrel shotgun but smaller and less of a kick, wicked fun for skeet and target shooting

Three points for ya bud

1. thats a pretty nice set up but i like my bolt action better

2. OP get a 3x mag scope

3. def get the bullets this guy is recommending

that is all

my grandfather has has a late 1800's W&C Scott and Sons Monte Carlo B double barrel 12 gauge with Crystal indicators, double trigger....old english double....this thing is fucking awesome. Cherry wood stock, engraved silver with a damascus barrel...beautiful.

Well the gun's got a wooden stock, so if you fire enough rounds through it and heat up the barrel enough it could catch like that I'd imagine. I mean machine gunners have to be careful when firing because they can heat their barrels up to the point that it starts drooping because the metal gets too hot and soft.
