Red vs. Poc

I'm debating between a poc receptor bug and a red Hi-Fi helmet. Any feedback would be greatly apreciated. I know its all about how it fits but i want to know about durability issues and PROTECTION. Those are my mine concerns but if one is really heavy or bulky that would be a problem too +k for advise

basicly this is whats its going to go down to poc is probley a lil bit more protection, alittle bit lighter slimmer fit. then R.E.D is a little bit heavier and alot cheeper then poc but basiclt the same protection.

so if u have the money and dont mind spending it, i would go with poc!

its not just that a bunch of pros use POC how many do you see for R.E.D. no one but their stuff is expensive it also lasts longer than cheaper helmets. how long do you plan to keep this one? also they are vrey well known for their saftey products just go to a down hill race most of them are using POC. if you have the extra money go with POC

I got a POC for this season and I can say it is a 100% better fit and comfort than my old bern baker.

On a side note, is POC pronounced "pock" or are the letters sounded out pee-oh-cee? I've heard both ways

whats wrong with burton? sure they arent a ski company but they make quality stuff. their [ak] series for examples. super sick

"whats wrong with burton?"
nothing but if you ski supporting ski companies is a good habit to get into... it would be one thing if it was salomon or something who makes snowboard and ski stuff but a company like burton who is only a snowboard company (with some anti skiing tendencies too) doesn't really do too much to further companies in freeskiing so why not help out ski companies in a tough industry once in a while if you can.

plus red helmets don't compare to poc haha

i'm sorry, but you are dumb to buy anything but a poc helmet. Your head is the the most important part of you body and if you fuck it up you're a vegtable. Spend the extra hundred bucks or whatever on protecting yourself. POC helments are far more impact absorbent and meant to take repetitive crashes. Some of the spills i walked away from in my poc last year would have seen my brains all over the hill in other helmets

I own the POC receptor bug and love it. Easily one of the best products on the market. And to speak to the comfort of the helmet itself here is a quote from me yesterday at Killington,

"Hey Pete, am I wearing my helmet or no?"

-before trying a fancy rail manuever. I was wearing it, just so light and comfortable that I can't even tell the difference.

Also, support ski companies.

3 reasons why POC is the clear way to go.

This is dumb. Your brains would not be all over the hill if you were wearing a different helmet. POC is definitely a superior helmet, but all helmets will protect you. I am not dumb for using a RED trace.

red helmets are super safe. POC helmets look like racing helmets to be honest and anything that resembles race gear is whack. RED may cater to boarders but what they really cater to is people rocking the park and pipe. the HIFI II is a sick lightweight helmet that looks badass and as a plus you can slide in audio phones into the ear piece. if you want to break your wallet then go POC. ever look at shred helmets? sickness. check it

It wont last any longer than the red. Both are single impact helmet, which means if you do have a bad crash the helmet could be compromised and would be pretty much garbage.

Also red audio is solid but if it gets cold enough the rubber on the connection lead can get all brittle. Mine snapped at every single joint last season - completely fucked. Skull Candy have got the right idea with their woven leads.

it doesn't say it on POC's site, probably for liability reasons, but from what i read online (http://www.thegoodride.com/accessories/protection/844-poc-receptor-bug-helmet-review.html under company info) the EPP liner is built to withstand multiple impacts. Obviously any helmet will be garbage after a huge impact, but from what i read online the POC is better than others at taking more than one, whereas some helmets as you said are literally designed to take just one. Another reason you'd be dumb for buying anything but POC

Also, don't take my word for this, do you own research before you buy and obviously no helmet makes you invincible, but here is the quote from the site: "Don’t wait until it’s too late to protect your thinker. The Receptor Bug is an extremely durable helmet due to the EPP liner that can withstand multiple impacts. After impact, the material simply returns to its initial shape, over and over"

i hope that helps with your decision

i dont know anything bout poc but i do know my brother had the r.e.d. hi-fi helmet on when he had one of his bad concusions and the doctors said if he didn't have the helmet he would be dead so r.e.d. can't be that bad. i thenk either one will be just fine

How does this look like a racing helmet?

This is the same helmet Tanner, Jon, Tj and lots of other pros use

yea dude your right, but i have had an RED hifi helmet and a POC receptor bug and I honestly cant tell the difference except the RED feels lighter.
