Red ring but xbox still works?

two years ago i got the red ring on my xbox, so i sent it to microsoft and they sent me a new xbox for free. however since i got it, to this day, every time i switch it on i get the red ring. i leave it for a couple of minutes, switch it off then on again and it works with no problems. anyone else have this?

if you're wondering why i'm only making a thread about it now it's because i'm bored :)
 
I had the same problem but when i would turn the xbox right side up it would work. but laying down it wouldnt
 
i got my 360 about a month after they released them, and i have had very similar things happen to mine. ive only sent it in once. i dont use it much anymore, but i feel like its on its last legs
 
I had mine for 5 years with no rrod or other problems. A week ago it started freezing 30 secs into it being turned on. It served me well after 4000xp on halo and 40 prestiges...
 
My friends have told me about the red ring of death, yet I still have no idea what it is, how you get it or what happens to the xbox. Someone please explain this to me.
 
some retarded ass flaw in the 360 where the circle around the power button (which is usually green) turns red then your shit doesnt work anymore. it turns red 1 quarter at a time and you can send it in and they'll fix it or something. but if you wait till the whole thing is red then youre fucked.
thats just what ive heard, i dont have one.
 
that may be the case sometimes, i dunno.

when mine broke, i was half way through a game of halo and it just completely froze. i switched off the console, waited then switched it back on again. three quarters of the ring was red straight away so i had to get it replaced. thankfully it was still under warranty so i got a free new one
