Red Mountain / White River

Before i sign away a more than a few pennies towards a trip this spring, any of you have experience with these mountains ?? Any secret spots i should know about ?

Really excited to ski some proper terrain

I assume you are talking about Red Mountain and Whitewater in BC? Red has some of the best in bounds terrain I have personally come across. If it's got snow, I can't think of anywhere else I'd rather be for lapping a chairlift.

Whitewater is small and on a pow day it's really fun... till about 11am. There is some very choice slackcountry.

Both are quiet, genuine ski areas without much for pampering. It's about an hour drive between the two so it's very easy to hit both on the same trip.

If you are coming from Ontario it's gonna be awesome. One thing though: While red has amazin terrain, it's almost completely in the trees and you can't see much from the lift. If it's clear you can go up gray chair and look at the north side of granite (where the goods are) to get a better idea. It took me a solid 3 seasons before I had the mountain truly figured out

Oops my bad! I meant whitewater. Thanks, i really think compared to what im used to it will really kick my ass and make it enjoyable. Been venturing more and more out west and im trying to find some proper terrain to leave a stain.

Red will deliver terrain wise.

So far this year it's been cold, so it's been good snow all the way down to valley bottom. Quite a strong system is coming on tonight and it's going to the the first warm system of the year. Freezing levels look like they will be good enough (when freezing levels get above 1600M it starts to affect the skiing terrain in the region) but mid January has historically been the make or break for weather trends and freezing levels. It's too early to tell if March will be all time conditions or deck beers and chill.
