Red Mountain info

I am planning a trip to Red around the 3rd weekend in February and am looking for some advice on travel and lodging. Does anyone have suggestions on inexpensive lodging or know of ski/stay packages in the area, I've checked the resort website but have found it is more than I was hoping to spend for a 3 day weekend trip. Am hoping to stay somewhere within an hours drive to the resort and preferably somewhere with a few decent places to eat or grab a beer.

We will be driving up from Oregon and have never been to the Rossland area so any advice is greatly appreciated!

+K for legitimate ideas...

Red Mountain is 3km from Rossland so I don't think you need to worry about your 'hour drive' thing - unless I missed something in your post. There is a hostel in town that is pretty cheep: http://www.mshostel.com/ besides that the Casa Alpina is probably your cheapest hotel in town: http://www.casaalpina.ca/

As for on hill, I'd say check out the Rams Head. It's a bit of a hostel/b&b feel, my friends own/run the place. the only downfall being you will be at the hill and there's not much going on up there come sundown. http://www.ramshead.bc.ca/

there's a city bus and also a free ski shuttle (if it isnt broken down). ive walked to the hill a few times with ski gear, it takes about 20 mins from the top of town.

also, hitchhiking.

you must walk super fuckin fast...

there is a free ski shuttle bus that basically just does a big loop from rossland to red, till 10pm, on the hour.

cross your fingers you get the hot chick that drives the bus.
