RED HD Skate Video

I just had to share this link with everyone... I really hope some of you get to see this. This video blew my fucking mind.

Check this shit out on Vimeo, but go watch it in HD on the site. The first video is some dudes just killing it on a few stairs, and the second video are just some shots with this RED Camera technology, that also just blow my mind. And the music, works so well... tell me what you guys think!

funny thing is... if you were to put that video shot on the RED next to

a well produced video on an HVX with a good 35mm adapter, I bet 90% of the

people you show it to wouldn't be able to tell the difference...

but because it was shot on a RED, I guess it makes it that much better?

not knocking the camera but that footage is pretty mediocre. I've seen WAY nicer stuff shot on hvx's, hv30's, fx1's, ex1's.

still cool none the less. Just remember, it's not the camera, it's the hands the camera's in.

hvxs can only shoot at 60fps but I do agree with you, I thought the filming was not amazing, kinda bad framing at times. But I will say I do like the colors alot and the slow mo was cool, cant get that good at only 60fps.

I'm sorry but that looked like shit. Just because a fisheye-filming skater gets his hands on a RED doesn't automatically make his footage good.

Posting that video on Vimeo is pointless, the compression ruins the higher quality you get from the camera (aside from the slow-mo). There was a thread on this with the video direct from the site and watching it made my brain explode.

thats funny you say that because I find ski filming waaayyyy more boring than skate footage, I think follow cams are wayyy under played. and if done right can be really sick, I think a lot of snowboarding companies have found the right balance of different types of shots but coming from a ski perspective I think ski filming needs to step it up, not that that video was well done but just in general, I think skate filming is still wayyyy sick, you should check out some of the recent skate videos if you think they're that one dimensional

exactly. Ty Evans is the best cinematographer in skateboarding but when compared to indie film makers, he's nothing special.

I'm not quite sure what people see... A fisheye filmer sticking his RED cam up another skaters trousers.. I guess that is "Mind Blowing" if you are a sucker for any edit that has "Good Quality".

80Hz bitch, don't question. Haha, I kid, but still Vimeo compresses video so you can stream it like that. I don't know what the site was, I looked for it so I could post the link when I made that post but couldn't find it. It does exist though!

just out of curiosity, care to explain why, on my dad's cheap dell laptop, any movie I watch on it leaves a "trail" of sorts? low refresh rate perhaps?

Uh, that shouldn't happen. Those were like the real old school LCDs that did that. Have it checked out...

And I don't live in a weird foreign country haha, I just set it in my Video options... maybe that doesn't actually change it, but it's set to 80Hz...

nah I got a macbook now, so I don't have to use his piece of shit PC (no hate towards PC,he just got the cheapest one imaginable. and it has vista.)

I was told a long time ago that 60Hz will wear on your eyes subconsciously and can give you migraines over time... I donno if it actually matters but I've been running it at 80 ever since.

Anyone know the song on the first skateboarding video, the red camera test says the video is no longer available..hmm

Pretty sick quality, but the filming was a little repetetive and got sort of boring
