Red Bull Rampage

someone is going to die at one of these, it's going to be blown way out of proportion, and that's going to be the end of rampage.

I really hope zink doesn't fuck himself up.

... no it's the top one. He wants one of the builders to put a kicker option on top of it.

Show up early on Friday and pray to God they're selling tickets on site... or get friendly with one of the Red Bull girls.

Worst case scenario? Go ride at the old Rampage site and Gooseberry Mesa... or sneak around to the site because after all, it's in the middle of the desert.

cant wait to watch it, but its on at 9am on a monday which sucks, guess I'm not going to school on monday then.

I hope zink flips the step down it would be insane, anyone know if the 60ft valley gap that zink crashed on still in.

lolfuckthat. pretty much the highest risk/reward at rampage, if he crashes chances are he will get seriously fucked up, but if he lands it and holds together the rest of his run hes basically guaranteed a gold (also would be the first to win twice)

I also really want to see claw stomp a run this year, the man was so close last year and always builds the best natural lines.

Yeah, it's kinda fucked because it's not too much bigger than when he flipped the Bender Sender... twice. Cam McCaul might be flipping the canyon gap as well, since he and Zink planned on it last year.

Claw's out injured along with Messere. Stevie Smith and Gee Atherton are rumored to not be participating either which is a shame but not unexpected.

i'm honestly surprised that claw is still riding at top level, he's had some of the worst injuries out of all of the top level riders, and he's still kicking.

/claim.

But seriously someone is going to die this year and Redbull Rampage will be ended. I'm just going to call it now.

Leaving from Park City at 4am or so Friday morning to catch qualifying. Just got the email from Red Bull this morning that it's already sold out, thankfully bought my ticket awhile ago. Claw is out injured, which sucks as I really wanted to see him get the win. But Zink and the McCaul boys will no doubt attempt some insane shit. Antoine Bizet kinda came outta nowhere last year and almost stole the show on his final run so stoked to see what he attempts this year. Wish Stevie Smith and Gee were competing

Huge group of us from Park City will either be camping on Gooseberry Mesa or at the old Rampage site. Hitting some shuttle laps off Flying Monkey Saturday. Anyone else making the trip?

Also, while it is sold out, as another poster said.... it's the desert. I remember looking around last year and thinking that if you really wanted to see it and didn't have a wristband, you could hike off the beaten path in for a little ways and then approach the venue from a different direction. From what I remember there are just a couple guys looking at them on the road when you first start up out of the parking lot, once you get past them noone is paying attention.

Going to be so unreal this year.... Norbssss will nottttt get robbed this year..

Although I am a massive fan of Zink or Strait doing the double

Flying Moneky to Kong laps, huh? That sounds wonderful.

If anyone is worried about camping, you can camp right at the parking area which is not bad at all. The old Rampage site might be packed but if you keep on the road past the BMX track, you can find spots.

For people that don't know, this is King Kong.

Lacondeguy full run KING KONG from Andreu Lacondeguy on Vimeo.

Shit, just read defending champ Sorge is out too. McCauls going after the canyon gap again this year, but I'm thinking it'll have to be flipped or something to win because the judges were penalizing riders for taking the far lookers left and right lines last year it seemed. Otherwise you probably need to drop right down the gut if you wanna be on the podium.

I just got word this morning from Diamondback's team manager that McGarry will be trying to flip the canyon gap.... Same one zink got fucked on last year...

Mccaul is changing up the ridge line to get over to the canyon gap, adding a couple of trick jumps. Hopefully we will finally see a few tricks over it, I think thus far we've just seen a superman and a suicide no hander, if kelly flips it that would be insane.

Reallllyyy want to see brendog's gap finally ridden too, everyone thought he was crazy last year (and still do) but it might actually happen this time.

So Zink and I went to high school together and had a few classes together and whatnot. and I never really gave him two thoughts after I had graduated. Then I was watching highlights from Rampage last year (I'm not super into mountain biking, so I don't follow the riders very closely) and I saw his name. I was awestruck to see someone from our shithole little high school actually doing something cool. I hope he kills it this year.

Don't be, he's probably one of those jackass kids in blue shirts that carry up the rider's bikes... without a clue as to what kind of bike it is.

he is going to be one of those guys. But I ride DH myself and know a lot about it so if I was able to work it then I wouldn't be one of those guys. Meeting the pros would be so sick too. I mean the opportunity for some rad photos alone makes it worth it.

Yeah, nice of your bro to volunteer, but fuck I remember watching those guys pushing the bikes up that course and thinking it looked awful.

For those that didn't see, weather has pushed qualifying to Saturday now. But the rain should also make for some hero dirt... hopefully shuttling Grafton Mesa and Flying Monkey all afternoon tomorrow, can't f'ing wait.

Red bull slaves acting like they are hot shit on the rampage site made me laugh. They dont realize that they could easily die carrying a 40 pound bike up a sketchy walkway up a mountain, being someones bitch.

NBC will broadcast it later, there is a live stream on sunday. I don't think qualifiers are streamed unfortunately, I'm almost more stoked to see what guys will have to do to get in. bummed I cant make it this year.

Well the path they take up isn't all that deadly... but the biggest thing is that they will only be able to see a small fraction of any of the runs because they'll either be in spots most of the time where they cannot see shit or running around to the point where they cannot stop to watch what's happening.

If anyone really wants to check out the course, meet some of the riders, etc. go down the weekend before. You can drive out to the venue, have free reign checking out the course, meet the builders (bender and spangler to be specific) and some of the riders and a few will already be there walking around.
