BERLIN - Six German states have told retailers to stop selling Red Bull Cola energy drinks after a test found a trace amount of cocaine. The bans started Friday after a sample test conducted by authorities in North Rhine-Westphalia state found 0.4 micrograms per liter in the drink.Five other states also banned it from shops amid concerns over possible narcotics law violations.Germany's Federal Institute for Risk Assessment said Monday that the cocaine level was too low to pose a health risk. It planned to produce a more detailed report Wednesday.Red Bull said its cola is "harmless and marketable in both the U.S. and Europe." It said similar coca leaf extracts are used worldwide as flavoring, and a test it commissioned itself found no cocaine traces.http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/30929880/

this is the red bull type they found cocaine in

yeah, when chewed in their natural state the leaves are actually good for you. they have effects similar to caffeine.

Coca-Cola was orignally marketed as a medicinal tonic (think Abe simpson's revitalizing Tonic).
It was sold through drug stores as a cure for stomach cramps. The guy that came up with Coca Cola was an Opium addict (close to heroin), and the stomach cramps I think were the result of this addiction.
Feel free to call me out on this though, as its a little vague in my memory.

hahaha thats funny

but i heard that this is the second time someones said cocaine was in red bull, correct me if i'm wrong

"According to this analysis, the 0.13 micrograms of cocaine per can of the drink does not pose a serious health threat — you'd have to drink 12,000 L of Red Bull Cola for negative effects to be felt "

seriously germans must just be pussys who is going to drink 12,000 fucking liters or red bull cola

Pemberton called for five ounces of coca leaf per gallon of syrup, a significant dose; in 1891, Candler claimed his formula (altered extensively from Pemberton's original) contained only a tenth of this amount. Coca-Cola did once contain an estimated nine milligrams of cocaine per glass, but in 1903 it was removed.[25] Coca-Cola still contains coca flavoring.

After 1904, instead of using fresh leaves, Coca-Cola started using "spent" leaves—the leftovers of the cocaine-extraction process with cocaine trace levels left over at a molecular level.[26] To this day, Coca-Cola uses as an ingredient a cocaine-free coca leaf extract prepared at a Stepan Company plant in Maywood, New Jersey.

in a liter of redbull, there are way more worse things than not even enough cocaine to make a fly twitch...

1893 World's Fair in Chicago. It was also the introduction of hamburgers (shitty meat), which gave people stomach aches so they went and bought Coca-Cola to cure their aches.

It's been done for ages guys and gals.

Coca Cola actually works with the US government, they won't admit it, but they get the "freshies" as they come into JFK airport, and they have used the coco leaf extracts in their soda since day numero uno.

It's not to a level that causes daum near anything, it is PURELY used as flavoring, your not getting high off it, and it's not causing anyone to be addicted to the drinks, it is TRULY for flavoring.

Look it up.

natural cola is like caffiene on steroids.

gives you tons of energy.

one cola nut=3-5 cups of coffee.

that may be the first intro in the states, but its been used in sth America for ages like with the Incas and shit,

when i was in the high Andes the locals gave us coca leaves to chew to get over altitude sickness and they chew that stuff all day long so they can run like crazy when they are up high between villages.

the stuff tastes pretty bad. i haven't had red bull cola but the Colombian cola (that has coca in it) tastes nothing like coke or Pepsi, but its not bad.

Haha. That Chappelle skit is too funny. I don't know what everyone is stressing over though, Cocaine has totally helped tons of peoples careers, just look at Ryan Sheckler. Or the Mary Kate and Ashley... Just kidding. Everybody drink Monster!

no way bitch, not the first hamburgers. fuck that.
1209-1121 - Genghis Khan (1167-1227), crowned the "emperor of all emperors," and his army of fierce Mongol horsemen, known as the "Golden Horde," conquered two thirds of the then known world. The Mongols were a fast-moving, cavalry-based army that rode small sturdy ponies. They stayed in their saddles for long period of time, sometimes days without ever dismounting. They had little opportunity to stop and build a fire for their meal. The entire village would follow behind the army on great wheeled carts they called "yurts," leading huge herds of sheep, goats, oxen, and horses. As the army needed food that could be carried on their mounts and eaten easily with one hand while they rode, ground meat was the perfect choice. They would use scrapings of lamb or mutton which were formed into flat patties. They softened the meat by placing them under the saddles of their horses while riding into battle. When it was time to eat, the meat would be eaten raw, having been tenderized by the saddle and the back of the horse.

just messing with ya bro haha

Back in the good old days Coca-Cola actually was a drink that contained cocaine.

"When launched Coca-Cola's two key ingredients were cocaine (benzoylmethyl ecgonine) and caffeine."

(Plus I have read it from various real history books.)

I love how half the people read the title and assume it's regular redbull that has the "cocaine" in it when really its the cola

why would you want to drink something that is probably the worst thing ever for your health.

there are hormones in thos drink. it s fucked up. the only reason it s allowed here in france is because they dont have yet the proof that it s bad for public health. or at least not enough proof for european court.

but every doctor in every emergency service in every hospital has to note when a patient comes and has red bull in his blood. they are gathering some data.

and just because they sponsor extreme sports doest make them cool. red bull is realy bad for health. just drink regular coffee if you are asleep.

it s just a matter of time before it get s forbidden.

You better check yourself, the original redbull had hormones, but we are talking about red bull cola. It has VERY different ingredients. This is also why they can take one version off the shelves in germany and not the other.
