Recording Equipment

Hey I was just wondering what recording equipment would be best for

recording my friends and I out on the slopes. I don't really have any

experience with recording, but I edited random clips online and made

this Ski Compilation

I'm looking for good picture quality, but a cheaper price if

possible, and something thats rather portable. Also if you know what

kind of format the files upload onto the comp for editing that would be

great to know as well. I'm probably going to be using Windows Movie

Maker for that stuff. Thanks for the help!
 
Don't Call it recording equipment, it's a camera. Don't use windows movie maker, it's garbage. What's your price range?
 
You are speaking great words of wisdom. The Panasonic GS-500 is a great, consumer camera for anyone who is looking into the field. If you are looking for something around 2000-3000 dollars the Panasonic DVX is a great camera as well, but I am assuming you want something around the 400-500 dollar range, therefore use the GS series is great. As LMP said.
