Not sure what info I need to include, looking for one for digital design/animation. Looking to spend $100-$200, and not opposed to buying used. If you know models that would help, I already know Wacom is a cgood company..

you could prob find a wacom intuos 3 used for a decent price.
The intuos 4 is the newest and shiniest. But you could find a intuous 3 for a deal. I would stay away from the bamboo series.
Have you ever used a tablet before? Some people prefer large or some like small. I recommend a size in the middle because when you have to reach the corners on the larger sized tablets and can be somewhat daunting, and when using one that is to small you feel like you want a little more.

Nope sure havent but for a few times, but never extensively. What should I be looking for to even compare models other than size?

because cavemen slide rocks around. Jk
Your entire life you have been using a pen or a pencil. It is a much more intuitive motion to do the same on the computer and for things such as digital painting photoshop retouching ect ect... you can get a much more fluid and organic look, that is sometimes very hard to achieve with a rock, I mean mouse.

I have to say the wacom tablets are just super nice. I have a intous4 size medium and I like it a lot more then the intous3 which I use at work. The 3 will be cheaper and easier to find used but the scroll wheel on the 4 is so useful. You can rotate the canvas, cycle through brush sizes, etc. Also you can custom map the wheel on a program basis so in Final Cut you can use it as a jog wheel or whatever else you want. Another guy I work with has the large size and it is kind of annoying and personally not worth the extra money.

When looking it's nice to see what buttons the tablets have so that you can set them up to zoom in and out change the brush size in photoshop.

Sry for double post on my phone and accidentally hit submit. Also you want to look for the pressure sensitivity this can control your brushes in Photoshop based n hard hard you push down. To be honest I'm not familiar with any tablets other then wacoms.

i have a bamboo pen and touch and its awesome for photoshop and illustrator and such but the scrolling and clicking are sub par and theres only four shortcut keys but for $99 I'm not complaining

i've got the intuos 3, and it's more or less an orgasm for photoshop, it's fucking amazing, you could def get it for 100-200

cannot recommend this highly enough

Lots of good info here. I too, have been wondering what some of the advantages are. I like my magic mouse for browsing but it's not smooth and annoying in photoshop
