Recommend me a laptop

I'm probably gonna receive some hate from this, but i have a 13" macbook air with 256gb flash storage, the 2.13GHz core 2 duo processor and 4gb ram and it runs everything very smooth. the only inconvenience is that i have to have an external cd/dvd burner so thats a turn off. But I still love it.

For quality that lasts, get a MacBook Pro.

I had nothing but problems with my HP and Dell laptops. Each lasted about 2-3 years. But within those time frames, there were hard drive crashes, battery failures, circuit board failures, etc. that took months to clear up. Customer Support was hard to access by phone or even email and when I did get people, they were rarely helpful. In the end, I just decided to give up and get a 13" polycarbonate MacBook.

It works flawlessly. I run CS5, Final Cut (Express), and Premiere without any problems. I've had minimal issues. And those issues that I have had have been sorted out by calling AppleCare and scheduling a quick and easy Genius Bar appointment. No other company offers Apple's level of customer support. Period.

If you do end up getting a Mac don't buy it through apple they will charge an arm and a leg. Try and find one refurbished like the guy on this Newschoolers. Factory81 is his username I think.

I think regular macbooks are aluminum now too but i think it's probably worth it to just go up to the mbp

No
Only in 2008 they made an aluminum macbook for a short while but than discontinued it and went back to a newer body style of the white macbooks.
The new macbooks still suck though. Its all about macbook pro's......

Wow that's interesting that they did that, when I saw they switch macbooks to aluminum styling I thought it was going to be permanent.

You would think........

Although I think it takes away from the value offered by Macbook Pro's. You could spec a Macbook 13" aluminum unibody to be every bit as fast as a Macbook Pro essentially.

DONT get a Dell Inspiron,

mine has crashed twice and i lost everything and had to reinstall windows.

and the customer service is useless

Most likely true, I think if Apple could sell the macbook line for 750-800 total they would see a big jump in sales.

yeah my plastic has broken numerous times but in terms of the plastic chipping

but functionality wise it is nice

if apple aggressively tried to take some market share's from the buyers in 350-600$ range they could do that making macbooks cheaper but like someone said mentioned apple keeps it's products valued high. but at this point for an extra hundred dollars or so you can get a better macbook pro, just my opinion but I think there isn't enough differentiation between those models but I don't work for them I just love my mac.

ipad
computers are not meant to be cheap throw-aways.

apple has no desire to pickup these budget consumers and never will.
i dont want to see a shittier version of a macbook....(aka a less expensive version). the plastic ones suck enough as it is.
